Les Miles

JoeA1010The problem was the horrendous play call to begin with. No time outs left, clock running down and you call a screen or whatever that was over the middle? I thought sure LSU was going to get in FG range and then they call that play.
Les Miles rivals Dennis Green for worst clock manager in history. -
darbypitcher22It was a horrendous play call, I must agree with that
-
Citybuck^^^Agree, lets hope Um hires him after RR.

Exactly what i said hours ago! Les Miles cant coach in a close game. -

Ouch, I was a huge Green fan when he was at Minnesota too, lol. I think Miles is still a great coach, but I dont think he is coaching the way he did his first 3 years at LSU. I dont think its the talent level why he is coaching different either.JoeA1010 wrote:

You might want to do research on that. Im sure you just have a couple games in mind.september63 wrote:september63 wrote: Not to mention the Ole Miss game where he botched clock management. september63No time for research here. Les Miles record as a HC is 43-30. He won a NC with another coaches guys.
-
darbypitcher22he's 13 games over .500. Most schools will take that

13 games over .500 in 9 years!! You think most schools would take that?darbypitcher22 wrote: he's 13 games over .500. Most schools will take that -
darbypitcher22well find out what he was @ Oklahoma State before that.... then do the math... I'm sure the win % goes up

Try 51-14 with LSU. Where did you come up with your #'s?september63 wrote: No time for research here. Les Miles record as a HC is 43-30. He won a NC with another coaches guys.
79-35 overall with all teams -
Citybuck13 games over .500 in 9 years....wow that is bad....He's not as good as I thought.

Read my post. 44 games over .500 in 9 years.Citybuck wrote: 13 games over .500 in 9 years....wow that is bad....He's not as good as I thought. -
Citybuckok, he did a good job with coach Saban's players one year.

44 games over .500 = doing a good with Saban's players one year?Citybuck wrote: ok, he did a good job with coach Saban's players one year. -
september63I can EAT crow when I was wrong!! Les Miles is indeed, 79-36, over his 9 years as a HC. I was incorrect. Average record is basically yearly 9-4 for his career.

centralbucksfanOther guys players? Yes it was, but he still coached them and has a ring. YOu can't take that away from him. If so, same goes for Tress with Coops kids. And too that point, thats something that is not always easy to do, come in with a different system/program and get kids to buy into it and then go on to win. IMO, maybe hard to do then win with your own players.
All that being said, Miles was lucky in that the year he won with LSU as that was probably the most down year in the past 10+ yrs of college football. To even get into the title game with 2 losses is unheard of. OSU was lucky to get in that year as well because of that year.
I think Miles is a good coach...not one of the elite though IMO. He has a BOAT load of talent and athletes on that team. To lose 5 last year and 4 this year with that talent has to go on his shoulders. Next year or two should be interesting. Another 3,4 or 5 loss season, and I can see the heat cranked up real quick. -
cats gone wildCbf, to add to what you said about talent....
Watching the bottom of the screen for this game at Todd McShay's NFL rankings for LSU players.....I was like WOW! They had a huge list of NFL ranked players for the draft. They sure didnt play like it this year. -

Not offensively, but defensively.cats gone wild wrote: Cbf, to add to what you said about talent....

I still maintain that the best player on that defense is sophomore CB Patrick Peterson. I love the kid. -

Like OSU, they lacked consistancy from the most needed position on the field, QB.cats gone wild wrote: Cbf, to add to what you said about talent....

darbypitcher22They may have a worse QB situation than OSU has....

At least OSU had a little bit of consistancy. LSU really could of used Perrilloux. Im just worried if they are going to ruin R. Sheppard by not using him.centralbucksfan wrote:

Well, Pryor certainly stepped up today. But I think the credit goes to Tressel for make a major change after their loss to Purdue. He limited Pryor passing, and started using him more in the running. Although he didn't pass much down the stretch, I think those wins gave him confidence, thus helped him today.cats gone wild wrote:

darbypitcher22I think most people would take 79-34... he's a good football coach taht hasn't been able todo anything offensively today

After today, I think OSU might be in better shape....centralbucksfan wrote:
