Isn't it ironic ...

BigAppleBuckeyeThat 40 years ago, a tie against Michigan sent the Buckeyes to Pasadena ... fast forward 40 years later, and Michigan NOT going for the tie may be the boost to send them there again (whether it's the Rose Bowl or BCS title game).

MulvaA little tooo ironic.

Pick6if michigan won today it wouldn't have affected the Buckeyes chances at making the Rose Bowl

Technically correct, but not 100% so: A beaten OSU team would have a much better chance at losing against MSU than a team coming off an exhilarating victory, IMO.Pick6;1545016 wrote:if michigan won today it wouldn't have affected the Buckeyes chances at making the Rose Bowl -
Dr Winston O'BoogieI haven't ever been a Hoke fan. But I give him credit on a gutsy call. All of us watching on TV can say it was an easy choice, based on how he liked his OT chances. But in the heat of battle, the tie is the easier road every time.
Hell of a call. Had it gone, it would have been an unbelievable win. Michigan deserves credit for giving a great effort today.
It was an outstanding win for Ohio State. That defense better get it figured out though. -

His kicker gave him an "out" in case it didn't work because he proved untrustworthy.Dr Winston O'Boogie;1545046 wrote:I haven't ever been a Hoke fan. But I give him credit on a gutsy call. He doesn't decide for two with a trustworthy kicker. -
SonofanumpCorrect call IMHO to go for 2, nothing left to lose this year.

Even though conventional wisdom says to go for the tie at home and the win on the road, I completely agree with you. Kudos to Flintstone for going for the W.Sonofanump;1545248 wrote:Correct call IMHO to go for 2, nothing left to lose this year. -
TiernanDumbest call in the series since they started playing in 1892. But I'm glad Fred did it. Players play and coaches make strategic decisions. Giving the "seniors" a say in that decision making process shows this guy is not ready for the level of football he's got himself into. 1 more year and the revolving scUM Head Coach carousel starts turning again. I truly think Les Miles will take it this time to wrap up his career where it all began for him.

Pick6Nothing dumb about Michigan (who had nothing to lose) going for two when they are playing a team they know is better than them and have no kicker.
-
TiernanWell I disagree but the play call itself was stupid too. A 3 step drop instead of the play action that had worked for them all day? Hoke is mid-level manager that somehow got promoted to CEO because nobody else wanted the fkn job at the time.

Pick6I can agree that the play call was stupid (obviously..as the Buckeyes knew what was coming). But I'm happy with the result haha.
