Have the Coaches stolen the Sugar Bowl?

  • Little Danny
Good piece about how the coaches have taken the spotlight away from the people the game should be about.... the players.

Good article. There really been little talk about players such as Gilyard, Tebow (Thank Goodness), Spikes, Pike, and so on. This game may have been the least talked about BCS bowl so far, mainly because of what happen to both coaches during the time.

Yes they have. I think 3 things happen in this game:

    1. The game is just sloppy as hell, and Florida comes away with a win.
    2. Florida dominates
    3. Cincy says fuck you to the world and somehow comes out on top and wins, then gets no credit from the media because Florida was "distracted" by Tebow's last game and Meyer's LOA

I think moreso Meyer than Kelly. Kelly didn't have much of a choice, I mean, who wouldn't take the ND job when you're coaching at Cincy. Meyers timing is pretty much baffling. I could see if he was going to be unable to coach the bowl game, but why announce this when you plan on coaching the Sugar Bowl??

I would blame Meyer more than Kelly.

Any UC fan who is still upset at Kelly is delusional. Just a fact of life. Might as well get used to it. UC is a great place to build a resume, have some real success in a BCS bowl, and then move on to a top program.

The UC fan base is by large over Kelly and his method of exit. UC sold it's public allotment in about 3 hours the day before Kelly left and has since asked for, received and sold two additional groups of tickets.

At least it gives the announcers something to talk about as the game won't even be close.

IMO, this made Fla and Meyer look like clowns. Why take away from the game itself? Why take away from the players? This all could have waited till AFTER the bowl game. Very classless by Meyer and Foley IMO. I guess after a loss, when you were the OVERWHELMING favorite to win the national title when you return almost your ENTIRE team, you feel the need to get the spotlight back yourself. Classless and selfish act IMO. Maybe the samething will happen to Fla football that happened to Fla basketball after Donovan pulled something similar...they sunk to being very mediocre. Some of these SEC coaches and their ego's are getting to the point of nausiating.
