Texas Regent met with Nick Sabans Agent
-
ou1980Per the AP...
Mack Brown was told of this meeting that took place after the NC game last year; Brown was asked if he planned to retire after this season. He told Texas he planned to stay through his contract (2020)...

vball10setInteresting, but I can't see Saban leaving 'Bama for Texas...now Muschamp leaving Florida is another story.
-
Fly4FunOnly way I see Saban leaving Alabama for another team is if he has to pull a Pete Carroll/Chip Kelly.
-
Midstate01I could see it as far as money, alumni, and access go:
Texas
Bama
Its not really close. Texas is one of the biggest schools in the country. Texas has great hs football and easily recruits nationally. More money goes through texas than alabama by A LOT. And none of that even talked about Saban's past. He's not one to settle down and stay long. -
Pick6The only way I see him leaving is if shit is about to hit the fan.

Why would Texas want him?vball10set;1503951 wrote:Interesting, but I can't see Saban leaving 'Bama for Texas...now Muschamp leaving Florida is another story. -
Azubuike24If Texas hires Muschamp, they only continue the same road of mediocrity they are currently on. I like Muschamp. I think he's solid. However, he's never going to be elite. He might find paydirt once every 5 years or so, but other than that, UF isn't as top tier as they once were. They are slowly becoming Georgia, which seems fine from the outside, yet in Athens about 95% of the fans are sick and tire of 10 win seasons, a good, not great coach and just falling short while 5 other SEC programs have won titles.
-
SonofanumpMuschamp is not impressive. Always seems to be whining about nothing.
-
Azubuike24Les Miles was never impressive either, but he's won a natty title, 2 SEC titles and 3 BCS game appearances, 6 New Year's Day Bowls and six 11+ win seasons. All during an era where every year the league he played in had the strongest competition.
Muschamp has a ways to go to be Les Miles, but I think there are some comparisons. -
Pick6who else is Texas going to hire..Kiffin?
-
MulvaI would go after Hugh Freeze before Muschamp if I was going the SEC route. Maybe Malzahn too.
Charlie Strong and David Shaw are 2 other younger coaches that could be looking for a bump. -
Midstate01If they don't get saban they'll get strong.

I know what you're all saying, but he had his greatest success with the 'Horns, and I think the powers-that-be remember him for that. I'm not saying they'll even offer, but I think there's a better chance of him going there than Saban. jmo. -
Classyposter58If Florida had a good offense then Muschamp would dominate. He went 11-2 last year with Florida guys, that's pretty damn good. Add on to that once he and Greg Davis left Texas that program has completely fallen apart, that's the only reason I would think about firing Mack Brown. I mean they have been mediocre as hell, 23-18 in the last 4 years, and were completely dominated by both BYU and Ole Miss. I mean this might be a 6-7 loss team again
-
ernest_t_bassI could definitely see Saban going to Texas, all because of ego.

This is his biggest detraction from fans. His offense has looked terrible since he took over. I'll give him 2 more years but even now, he's had some time and it's only gotten worse.Classyposter58;1504170 wrote:If Florida had a good offense then Muschamp would dominate. -

This, I think fans originally blamed Urban for supposedly leaving the cupboard bare, but it's becoming apparent that Muschamp is just the Dantonio of the SEC (Can coach a great defense but can't seem to get things working offensively).Azubuike24;1504219 wrote:This is his biggest detraction from fans. Nick Saban arriving in Alabama

Both of em are defensive coaches. Ha just put a good OC in there and it's all goodFly4Fun;1504245 wrote:This, I think fans originally blamed Urban for supposedly leaving the cupboard bare, but it's becoming apparent that Muschamp is just the Dantonio of the SEC (Can coach a great defense but can't seem to get things working offensively). -

For Muschamp it is more a matter of un-involving himself in the offense. Florida is wasting a promising OC with Muschamp's handcuffs. May be different if he ever gets the right personnel, but I don't think he will last that long after the way this season is going to go.Classyposter58;1504279 wrote:Both of em are defensive coaches. jordo212000If Texas wants Muschamo, I have a feeling Florida will drive him to the airport

Azubuike24While Muschamp isn't great, comparing him to Dantonio is somewhat unfair. Dantonio was a bust. Muschamp just isn't a home run. Then again, I'd guess at a place like Florida or Texas, it's really homer or bust.
