The SEC is 1-1

cats gone wildOh no, the conference is down, they lost on their "home field", a SEC team got beat by a ACC team, the SEC is going to lose 5 bowl games, Meyer cant make up his mind, the SEC cant win above the Mason Dixon line, they cant win in the cold, where's Azabuike and the SEC chest thumpers, I love/hate Tebow, SEC,SEC,SEC,SEC.....MWC>SEC.............etc.
Hopefully I covered all the Big 10 homers bashing in one paragraph. Add to it, if I forgot something.
P.S.......Joke thread, not serious -
NNNThe fact that Clemson finished this season with less than 12 wins is proof that Dabo Swinney needs to be booted as soon as possible.
-
DaBrowns41It's really too bad, because Clemson will be lucky to get 8 wins next season.
-
hoops23Yeah, I don't understand Clemson. Same with their bball team. Underachiever U is what I call them.

-Refs fixing games (ERRRRR, messing up replay calls and inventing personal foul penalties)
-repeated bending of recruiting standards
-childish coaching antics
None of that proves the SEC is down, just that they're being the SEC -
SpeedofsandClemson = 1st place ACC Atlantic division
Kentucky = 5th place SEC East division
SEC = 10 teams in bowl games

jordo212000I heard the announcers saying "watch out for Clemson next season, they are young!" And then right after that they talked about CJ Spiller's stats. He did everything for that team. Now that he is gone, they are going to be in for a rude awakening.
Dabo Swinney's hiring still makes me scratch my head to this day. Apparently Clemson's AD and WVU's are brothers because both gave HC jobs to interim HC's in over their heads -
Heretic
I concur. While watching the game last night, I spent most of the time thinking that Clemson should be beating Kentucky by about a 35-7 margin, but the game was close the entire way through. They had tons of talent, but lacked that spark which separates the great teams from the merely good.NNN wrote: The fact that Clemson finished this season with less than 12 wins is proof that Dabo Swinney needs to be booted as soon as possible. -
tcby99who cares about the mighty SEC?
-
enigmaaxSo Clemson is the yearly disappointment because they are always picked high and finish a little bit better than average. Why do people always pick them and where is all the talent? I know Spiller is good, but when I've watched them over the last couple years I see pretty much what they are (an above average team). Who else is so talented on their team that makes people think they should win more than 9 games?

ACC = 10 teams in bowl games last year. How good were they as a conference?

Dumbest post of all time. We have a sorry ass o-line and a team with a losing culture. The coaching this season was 10X what it has been for the last 10 years under bowden. We are set up well for the future with great backs in Harper and Ellington.NNN wrote: The fact that Clemson finished this season with less than 12 wins is proof that Dabo Swinney needs to be booted as soon as possible. -
ohiotiger33It is so funny, we fired our last coach because he didn't utilize what we had (mainly spiller). When we finally do that, we are "dead" if we lose him. Coaches scheme to their best players. Spiller did everything for us, because we wanted him to do everything. He wasn't even the leading rusher in the game last night (that would be sophomore Jamie Harper).
Seriously, the teams under Bowden were downright soft. Our average linebacker size was about 6'1'' 190 lbs. We are switching to the larger style LB's, and are actually looking to recruit lineman. Being tough is something that takes a while to instill in a team that has been soft for ten years.
This season was very close to being very good, but it was just pretty good.
Lost to GT by 3 early in the season on an illegal fake field goal. Lost by 4 to TCU. Lost by 3 to Maryland (only wtf game). Only bad loss was to South Carolina in the rivalry game, and then lost by 4 to GT for the second time. Those are very close games.
Coach Swinney is a good game-adjustment coach, and a good tough motivator. He learned this after working his way from a walk-on at Alabama, to starting his senior year for the national title squad.
http://clemson.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=882281 read this article. It outlines what makes him great. He overcame his father beating him and his brothers, took his family under his wing, and walked on at Bama. He will succeed at Clemson because he works hard at everything he does and because he, in his own words, has "never failed at anything in my life."
Say what you will about Clemson and the talent levels, but the truth is, the talent has been at the skill positions and the lines have been the large weakness of the team. By focusing on the recruitment of lineman, we should be able to win some of those close games we have tended to lose. Clemson isn't some giant school; we have 15 K students. But the commitment to sports is there, and I think Dabo might just have been a great hire (I was skeptical, but changed my mind seeing him this year).
Clemson under Bowden was a team that quit, and this team never quit. I believe there is something to be said for that alone. 9 wins is pretty good and is probably a bit better than I expected this season. Remember Jim Tressel went 7-5 in his first season at OSU, and Nick Saban went 6-6 two years ago at Bama. Give the coach time, I think he has all the tools to be a good one.
About the ACC/SEC thing? Who cares. We finished about 4th in the ACC (VT and Miami finished with better records, but were in the coastal division) and Kentucky has a decent little football team (I like that Frosh QB). A W is a W, and is always better than losing. -

devil1197It will only get worse.

darbypitcher22Its Kentucky, first of all, yes, I know they won 8 games(should have won 9 shoulda beat Tennessee), but this is new territory for them, they'll only get better, and they really should have won the game, play calling in the 2nd half was terrible for them. Clemson really was lucky to walk away from it last night, didn't decide to ride Spiller until midway through the 4th quarter.....

MulvaGeorgia has impressive special teams. And Texas A+M has the worst special teams I've ever seen.
-
cats gone wild1 and 1 now. The SEC is the best ever........
-
bamagirlBear Bryant always said he wanted to be buried in a place where there was no football...and he considered that place to be Kentucky. lol
I was rooting for Kentucky and Georgia....I always root for my fellow SEC opponents to kick some butt in bowl games. -
vball10set^^^you're funny--very predictable and weird,but funny :s
-
johngrizzlyAnd the Big 10 won the ACC/Big 10 Challenge. There is an athletic correlation with superior conferences.
-
GOONx19Kentucky finished in the top 20 in five of Bryant's eight seasons there. In 1950 they finished #1 in the Sagarin ratings. It just so happened that UK won three basketball championships in his first four years there. A little jealousy? Too bad he didn't stay, he could have won them over.
