Mack is a pure LB.
Clowney is a pure DE -

As an OLB and DE they both have rush and perimeter containment responsibilities that are very similar and often evenore so in the NFL but since you've never actually coached any football you wouldn't know much about any of that would you?LJ;1494022 wrote:Mack is a pure LB.

Lol!!!! Clowney is not a stand up end with pass coverage responsibilities. Macks primary responsibility is to scrape and fill and to drop into pass coverage. Clowneys main responsibility is to set the edge and rush the passer -
LJI also played in a 3-3-3-2 stack defense in HS. I can tell you from experience that they are not comparable in the least

So what? The statement made was that Mack would be the best DEFENDER OSU faced all year. Not the best at a certain position.LJ;1494035 wrote:Lol!!!! What other projected top 5 picks will OSU fave this year?
Yeah thought so  -
#1DBagKhalil Mack is on Facebook.

That wasn't even the point. The point is you are busting balls about position comparisons when it's not even relevant.LJ;1494070 wrote:What other projected top 5 picks will OSU fave this year?

Pick6
It was relevant because Tiernan brought the comparison to Clowney up.WebFire;1494079 wrote:That wasn't even the point. The point is you are busting balls about position comparisons when it's not even relevant. -

And OSU doesn't face Clowney. So why the argument anyway?Pick6;1494080 wrote:It was relevant because Tiernan brought the comparison to Clowney up. -
Midstate01Not going to read through this pissing match but Mack was a stud. He looks the part and certainly plays it. He's really really good. Yea he is definitely the best defender they will see all year. But other teams will have mulitple studs which makes a bigger difference

It was in reference to to this. He's not.WebFire;1494079 wrote:That wasn't even the point. The point is you are busting balls about position comparisons when it's not even relevant.

I know why he said. But OSU doesn't face Clowney and it wasn't a position argument. Doesn't matter to me. Carry on.Automatik;1494189 wrote:It was in reference to to this. He's not. -

OK? So you are trying to rile up an argument that never happened with the person who never originally made the comparison for what reason then? Trolling eh? Got it. Carry on. -
TiernanMy original post was just to reference the comparison of two standout defensive players as forces to be dealt with not necessarily a "position by position" comparison. But I do still maintain a DE and OLB have some similar responsibilities in many schemes.

TiernanI will rile up the locals by stating Mack outplayed our own Butkus candidate by about 1,000x yesterday. Cramping or not Shazier didn't show up yesterday.

Shazier wasn't amazing but he had a solid game. I think he had somewhere between 6-8 tackles and 1 TFL (I don't have the official stats but I remember seeing him in on quite a few plays). It wasn't a standout game but to say he didn't show up is idiotic.
