Not a popular bowl game, but for those watching USC-Boston College
-
Manhattan BuckeyeBoston College is getting jobbed by the Mountain West officials, two obvious BLOWN calls on instant replay. If I'm Swofford I'd revisit the ACC's commitment to playing a west coast bowl. This is simply awful to both teams.
-
darbypitcher22The first call I guess I could deal with, but this second one there's no excuse... BC is getting jobbed on this drive.... USC will probably score here and that will represent a huge momentum change
-
Manhattan BuckeyeHonestly darby I'm not sure I could deal with the first one, even in real time it looked like he was out of bounds. On replay it was obvious.
-
darbypitcher22I know it did but that one at least from that back angle they kept showing I could understand why he said it was inconclusive.... at least the kicker just slipped. BC needs to mount a drive and take a lead here
-
ytownfootballWatching it and yeah the hose job is engaged.
Both calls were so bad, even upon review, there can be no other explanation.
If we're going to have this pitiful use of instant replay especially in bowl games then just get rid of it. -
Ankle BreakerDon't care who wins this game but feel it's tiime for AB to weigh in and say that BC is getting hosed. I'd like to get the replay official hired at home Buckeye games. lol On second thought, I'd rather win straight up than see the opponent screwed.
Neither the long pass down the sideline nor the ball hitting the U$C player's foot is excusable. -
Scarlet_FeverI was about to make this post if not already here. Absolutely horrible to miss BOTH of those calls when having instant replay. It's calls like those that keep a doubt in my mind when I have conspiracy therorist friends who say some games are fixed. These officials should either not be payed (let the side money they obviously got be enough) or be banned from doing games or at least bowl games for a few years.
-
Ankle BreakerThese calls make me wonder if the replay official is a U$C booster.
-
darbypitcher22It'd be nice to see Boston College cover Havili.... Dude's got like 10 catches already and is wide open just about every time he gets the ball
-
Manhattan BuckeyeBTW I support instant replay as it takes away the human element of missing very fast action in real time, as I posted on another forum the real human element may be officials refusing to overturn one of their buddies, that may have been the case the first time (to darby's point it was "close" but I still think it was "obvious" in that there were no obstructions of the camera or other issues), as it was a close call, but I have it on DVR and there is no way he is in bounds, even though it was close.
The second review is inexplicable. The guy wasn't blocked into anybody. -
DaBrowns41USC needs all the calls they can get guys.
-
darbypitcher22BC needs to put a drive together and take the lead and make it hold up and take all of this discussion we're having out of the element.
This is just a weird game to begin with. Played in a baseball park in a not so great climate in December for football on a field that as you all can see was not built to handle what's going on it tonight. Footing has been terrible.
Also the dual sideline thing is pretty dumb. -
dazedconfusedso they play this game in a baseball stadium, huh? interesting
-
DaBrowns41You kind of wonder if BC really deserves to win, though. I mean, their defense can't even cover a fullback out of the backfield.
-
darbypitcher22Yes, for those who don't know, this game is played @ AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants.... just in case anybody else was wondering about the strang configuration.
Havili is killing BC.... they need to get something going offensively and put together a drive like they had in the 2nd quarter... -
MulvaThe first call was a good call. His foot was still on the ground when he caught the ball. The second call was awful.
Barkley just completed a huge throw. USC might be about to put this one away. -
DaBrowns41This game is as sloppy as the Boise/Oregon game that opened the season, lol.
USC is about to get a TD, here, however. Unless somebody fumbles, which is quite possible. -
darbypitcher22yeah pretty sure this one is over now.... unless BC can get one on the board quickly, which I don't see happening...
-
jordo212000I got a text from my roommate who thought David Stern was out at the game acting as the replay booth official. He thought that could be the only reason for all the head-scratchers
-
darbypitcher22looks like BC has a little something going... they really need 6 here... I don't think 3 is going to cut it...

WriterbuckeyeUSC gets yet another bowl win in the state of California.
All but 8 of their bowl victories have come on California soil, most of those in their home town of L.A.
Must be nice to be able to rack up all those wins playing at home.
Of course, that fact won't be part of any discussion the announcers have when extolling the successful bowl history of the USC program. -
darbypitcher22Would be interesting to see what those 8 that didn't come in the state of California would be...
-

I'm saying 8-0.darbypitcher22 wrote: Would be interesting to see what those 8 that didn't come in the state of California would be...
Lol.
