Which Posters Like Different teams in Basketball/Football?

  I'm waiting on Captain Jack to find Free Huddle and criticize all of us who support multiple teams. He can probably sense that this discussion is taking place at this very moment. After all, he's the ultimate authority of fan support, frontrunners, flip-floppers, and bandwagoners.
  
  
  Anyway, I was born and raised in Ohio. My family has always rooted for Ohio State and because of that, I do too. We're a football family, first and foremost, so I was never exposed to Ohio State basketball as much as football. Because of this, I made a choice of my own as I first began watching basketball as a kid. I loved watching Michael Jordan play basketball and his association with Carolina led me to take notice of the Carolina basketball program. Watching Carolina play in the Dean Dome on TV, seeing all the great players to have worn Carolina blue, and realizing the strength of their basketball tradition, I became a Carolina basketball fan.
  
  I root for both Ohio State and North Carolina in all sports, but there's something special to me about OSU football and Carolina basketball. I have a great interest in those two programs and I am as die-hard as they come when it comes to the football Buckeyes and basketball Tar Heels. It has been that way since I first began watching and understanding sports and it will be that way for the rest of my life.
  
  I've been to only a few games at the Horseshoe, but I absolutely love it. The atmosphere and intensity, coupled with the sense of history that you get when you walk into that place, is just unparalled to me. Also, I've never been to a game at the Smith Center, but I have been there and loved it as well. I've been lucky enough to visit Chapel Hill on a couple occasions, and I absolutely love the place. I would have given anything to go to school at UNC, and really wish that I would have made a more serious effort to try to back in the day. I'm sure that the overall experience would have been all that it's said to be.

  Rec doesn't even know the name of Duke's home. It's Hansbrough Indoor Stadium now. And that "D" at center court...That stands for "Danny" as in Danny Green.

  IF Carolina fans can imply ownership of a Duke athletic venue, then I would request Carolina rename all of their "academic" buildings after their more famous, more successful Duke brethren.

  I believe that would be a "true".
  
  Duke is obviously a great school, but Carolina is a Top 30 university too. Not bad for a public institution.
  
  That said, the names of the academic buildings can be changed. But I petition that Krzyzewskiville be renamed Ginyardville if Marcus goes "5-0" there.

  I don't really care who anyone roots for, but I would have to think that most people who root for separate schools in different sports are bandwagon fans. Not all, but most.
  
  You see a lot of OSU fball/UNC bball fans, but not so much the other way around. Also lots of people with 3rd cousins once-removed that were the ball boy for UNC basketball growing up, but none for UNC football.

  I get tired of the idiots that say you have to root for teams from your home state. I personally hate bucks fans attitudes, cockiness, their love for sweater-vests and O-H-I-O, and their obsession with SEC schools.

  Not all Buckeye fans are like that though, cats. There are plenty who are, but not all.
  
  On a more general note, if someone picks a team and supports them, win or lose, then that's all that matters. I think people tend to support their alma mater or the school closest to them in proximity. However, that's not necessarily how it HAS to be, and as we have seen on this thread, it's often not. As long as you support a team, and stick with them through good times and bad, no one should be able to question your fanhood.

  I didnt run into these type of people until I started getting on sports forums, and all teams have them. I, even I...used to watch OSU on tv constantly and would cheer for them. In the last few years, I lost all respect for OSU fans but think Tressel is a classic guy. Basketball fans dont bug me, just the football ones.

  The only name change I would recommend is the married one of Phil Ford's wife to McInnis.
  
  I'm glad you are so keen on wanting to take over the possession of college basketball's greatest treasure, though. It's a special, coveted place. Unlike, well, the stately tomb the socialites conglomerate in for tea and a game of put the sphere in the iron circle over in CH

  I root for both the University of Cincinnati and the Ohio State University in both football and basketball. The only time I have a conflict is the limited times they have played one another in either sport.
  
  I do like to see WVU basketball do well since they have Coach Huggins (of course, only when it does not adversely affect the Bearcats).

  I have noticed though that there are people who are hypocritical in this regard. There are people who proclaim you should root for your home team. I wonder if that comes from a sense of patriotism? I don't know just throwing out the question.
  
  I have seen people who say were born and raised in Ohio who root for an out of state team. And to be the jerk that I am and to test their logic I start a conversation about the Olympics and how I root for Russia and China. I hate whiney ass American fans who think they are so great.

  I think someone can make the same argument for rooting for the USA as rooting for your home team but I personally think that fails. You should cheer and root for who you like for whatever reason you might have.

  I'm a Michigan fan and a Kentucky fan. Both sports. And I hate it because I always find myself defending OSU to all the Big Ten haters in Kentucky. So if OSU could win they're bowl game it'd save me a lot of trouble.
