Do you care about women's college hoops?
-
gorocks99Honest question. Every time I read a story or see a score I think to myself "is it THAT uncompetitive?". The best teams regularly outscore even conference opponents by 30-40 points.
Seems to me the top 10-15 teams are so much better than the rest that it's almost laughable that the tournament lets in 64 of them. It's basically a forgone conclusion who will be in the Sweet 16, and beyond that, you know one, or usually both, of Tennessee or UConn will be in the Final Four.
So really, do you care? If so, why? If not, why not? -
devil1197No not really unless its OSU girls.
I cannot get into it at all. Going from watching the NCAA guys to girls, the game is so slow. I watched some of the UCONN game last night and I couldn't get into it. -
darbypitcher22I do.
This is probably because my sister played, but the fact that they're women takes certain things out of play(dunking) and I think makes them have to be more fundamentally sound than the men. I think they shoot better and handle better -
LeonardoI do. Connecticut is two steps ahead of the the rest of the NCAA right now, which makes it a little uncompetitive come tournament time. I mean, they have won their last 49 games, all by double digits.
-
Laley23Not one bit. Its so slow and boring. The fact that I could play with them, and I didnt even play in college is a joke to me. I teamed up with 4 other pretty good players in a pick-up game and ran the IU womens team (their top 3 and then top 2 bench players) 15-4. It was an absolute joke. IU last year almost made the NCAA Tourney.

ytownfootballNot.At.All.
It's an inferior product and a bleeder of funding, waste of bandwidth.
Nothing pisses me off more than the ESPN scrawl at the bottom of the screen that lists womens hoop scores and mixes them in with scores I care about. -
Swamp FoxI enjoy women's basketball and have been a follower of the Bowling Green Women, as well as the Ohio State Women's team. I also have a tremendous amount of respect for Pat Summit and what she has done for the Tennessee Women's program and Women's basketball in general. I used to coach lower level girl's high school basketball and always enjoyed it more than the boy's coaching I did because the girls never thought they knew everything. Boys think that immediately in some cases. While it is true and will always be true that the women's game is slower and more mechanical than the guys game, it is, in my opinion, a more fundamentally sound brand of basketball and I guess I would say that I'm one of those purists that like to see the game played as it was intended to be played.
-
Cleveland BuckI would watch that Directv info channel where they tell you how to use your remote before I watched a women's basketball game, college or pro.
-
wes_mantoothNope. There really isn't any march madness, because the same 2 or 3 teams are always steamrolling everyone in the tourney.
-
jordo212000Nope don't care at all. Would rather watch grass grow or paint dry
-
HiddenGemsI love it! Fundamentals at their finest. Pure game there! Men's game has lots of flash but some of the current guys do not have the basics down and live off of athleticism.
-
Hb31187Lol yeah its great watching 2 teams play on national tv that could get beat by players at a local rec center
-
HiddenGems.................as soon as those players can have babies that will matter. lol
-
mattinctownI follow the BG women's team, and watch an occasional NCAA tournament game, but like most people said, Connecticut dominates it so much it's not worth watching.
-
Hb31187Lol idc if the players im talking about are male or female. My point is I dont enjoy watching people play that are worse then the competition I see down at Mingo Park. Sure its great theyre fundamental and this and that, but watching a womens college basketball game doesnt entertain me in the least bit. Plus theres no parity....Its Tennessee, Uconn or Stanford winning every year it seems like...and the other teams are a good like 30 points behind them
-
hoops23Nope.
-
krazie45I didn't until I became Brutus and started doing women's games. They are very entertaining, and they are excellent shooters. Also, Samantha Prahalis is the best point guard at Ohio State, male or female. She's like John Stockton out there. If there were a female globetrotters she'd be on it.
-
stroupsThe there are only 2 womens sports that I can watch; softball and volleyball.
-
CinciX12I like women's hoops. But will obviously concede that there are times where the speed of the game makes me cringe.
-
ZeroCoollove it. more fundamental bball, not the flash of guys but i could less about that. plus the officiating is better. they will call the travels, charges and various other infractions that mens refs let go.

Spoken like a high school all league honorable mention.Hb31187 wrote: Lol yeah its great watching 2 teams play on national tv that could get beat by players at a local rec center
You have no clue! Been there and have seen it and lived it. -
Hb31187Its not even like that though. Honestly I could pick up from the rec center I go and play at and beat a good womens team. The gap is THAT large between the 2. Its not a knock on them, just how it is
You must be a ex female basketball player, or have a daughter that plays. Thats the only logical reason I can see for this. You know as well as I how hugeeeee the talent gap is -
darbypitcher22If your'e such a baller let's see you get down on the block and guard Jantel Lavender of Jayne Appel from Stanford.... Put them with Prahalis and Tina Charles and Maya Moore and you've got one hell of a team that ANYBODY would be hard pressed to stop
-
Hb31187Lol yeah I cant guard a post player, darn. Lets see jantel lavender come out to the perrimeter and guard me.
And I never said I could mess with a center lol ima guard, but theres several 7 footers that i know and play with that would have no issues guarding a womens college post player, and are much more athletic
