Report: Auburn paid players, changed grades

karen lotzI'm just wondering what all the negative stories were that ESPN supposedly had compared to other conferences. There was the OSU situation, which wasn't their reporting initially and outside of that?

ESPN never misses a chance to bash the Big 10. There isnt much to bash, because the B1G is a conference that has morals. However, you will hear from ESPN every bowl season how bad the conference is.karen lotz;1419808 wrote:I'm just wondering what all the negative stories were that ESPN supposedly had compared to other conferences. vdubb96I didn't say espn compares other schools to big ten schools. I just, in my belief feel espn will run with a Big Ten story much harder and faster than with any other schools. Just an opinion. I truely believe that if what just broke at Auburn would have happened at Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan St., Nebraska etc it would be all over espn. With Skip Bayless, Mark May, Stephen A. Smith and all the talk shows pounding it in the ground.

Huh? You said there are more "negative" stories about the big ten than other conferences. I didn't say anything about comparing schools to the big ten. I asked what all the negative stories were that you were referring to.vdubb96;1419816 wrote:I didn't say espn compares other schools to big ten schools. And I'm not sure how I forgot about the Penn State scandal. I think even B1G fans would agree that was a story that deserved quite a bit of coverage.
The Auburn stuff has been on ESPN radio starting with Cowherd. I can't speak to what has been on the TV side, but I would guess its getting its fair share of coverage at this point, considering it is still one newspaper report that has had some validity questions already. -

They bashed B1G football because it wasn't very good and hasn't been good outside of OSU for a while. I do remember ESPN basketball guys routinely praising the strength of the conference this year though. -

cats gone wildLying, cheating, giving money, giving cars, paying people not to work= good morals.
AUB, the SEC, and LSU for that matter arent perfect, but to say that the B10 has morals is laughable. There isnt a BCS conference out there that doesnt have problems. -
ou1980Auburn just lost there National Championship

Yeah but Colin is honestly the least ESPN as all the others. I've always liked his show because of this, whereas Mike & Mike is literally an extension of SportsCenter. That show has gotten ridiculously bad, I used to love it too back in the day on ESPNews when they had a little set. But as usual, most things turn to shit when they go mainstreamou1980;1419618 wrote:Well Colin Cowherd is right now ripping apart Auburn and just said "This is the dirtiest program and has been for a long time in the SEC"...So yes ESPN is now involved. -
cats gone wildGive AUB the death penalty! Wonder whats going to happen to their 2013 recruits? Can they go elsewhere?

Azubuike24Colin Cowherd discussing it is about as relevant as this Ohio Chatter thread.
He will discuss just about anything he can attach some shocking and loudmouth rant to. -
karen lotzIt's relevant because he works for ESPN and people were complaining that they weren't covering the story at all. He talks about the biggest topics going, like his takes or not. Just shows ESPN isn't ignoring the story because it's the sec and not the big ten.
-
Azubuike24Well yes, I see your point. I guess I just get the impression that just because Cowherd is on ESPN, him discussing something doesn't always mean it's serious. Some things, he's overly serious about. Other things, he uses it as a daily ranting/ripping, then moves off it.
