They've only lost 1 more game this year than last.

Exactly. You usually get better with another year of experience? They had a deep run last year in the NCAA and this year had losses to Winthrop and Robert Morris.

You can't go from a deep run in the tournament to playing in the NIT. Especially when you have DJ Cooper and all of the talent that they do.

Well the season isnt over, yet. I, unfortunately, like their chances against Akron tonight. They were pretty hot in the first half last night. If they can play like that, they can make some noise (just like last year)

I hope OU pulls it off, but it would have been hard for me to justify hiring a guy who was a colossal failure at his loss stop. The AD must have had a lot of faith in Christian in order to turn the keys to probably the most talented team in school history to a guy who won 43% of his games in the freaking Mountain West.

Like I said, they hired him so they wouldn't have another Groce situation where they have to get another guy in 2-3 years. The obvious choice was Jeff Boals

Christian wasn't a bad hire... he realized he was in over his head at TCU and jumped before they went to the Big 12 and he got his ass handed to him. Every damn team has a let down period in their schedule, OU's was just in December against some odd teams.

He's never had a sub-20 win season in the MAC in 7 seasons. So, you get longevity (potentially) and success, because he excels at this level and knows what'll happen if he tries to go higher.

Boals would have been a good hire as well, but as you said if that goes well all you did was essentially kick the can down the road 3 years and then end up hiring someone like Christian anyway when Boals leaves.

TCU was sucking under Christian when they played in the Mountain West. The Mountain West isn't exactly Mecca for basketball

Apparently the MAC is his ceiling, which works for OU, considering they're in the MAC and all...

Also the MWC is the highest rated conference this year in RPI

29-26 Ohio at the half. Both teams looking good, Akron has a few bad turnovers.

    "This year"

Cooper is MIA and he keeps chucking ridiculous 3s
  • ts1227
They've kicked Marshall out to cover him, and he's not handling it well.

He's started to drive it at him and get fouls since the refs are calling anything and everything
  • ts1227
Barring a miracle, this game is done. Ohio 1/15 from 3, Cooper hasn't made a FG yet.

Jim Christian might not be a terrible hire, but he did a terrible job this season. I don't think that can even be debated. Barring a miracle, OU is about to finish with 1 top-100 win all season (1-7).

Inexplicable for this team to go this backwards.

You should never hire the average guy because he is 'safe.' You should hire the best and then worry about an early exit later.

    Christian = bad

In response to the Jim Christian supporters talking about him being a safe hire:

No one in the MAC gives a flying fuck about what Ohio State does or what their retarded fans think.

    Hope this helps

Not sure who this is directed at, but I cheer for both. Actually attended more OU games this year than Buckeye games.

He inherited a Sweet 16 team this year and managed to CHOKE on every game that mattered this season. If they get invited to the NIT I have no doubt Ohio will be one and done.

It should be what realistic people who want to win should think. If you want to just be an okay team who finishes second in the second, Christian is your guy. But OU just had probably their best team they've had and didn't do anything with it...so I'd say the season was a disappointment. And I cheer for OU too.

Who needs marijuana drug traffickers on their team!

Again I reiterate, how did Kent State win anything with this coach? MAC regular season co-title aside because Akron choked it away, what did this team with all 5 returning starters from a Sweet 16 team do?

Someone had tweeted that maybe he brought OU some brownies at the half, lol

    Very disappointing indeed.
