Gonzaga

If Gonzaga gets a number 1 seed are they the weakest number 1 ever. They have played three teams that were ranked when they played them all season. They lost to both Ill and Butler when they were ranked 13th and they beat OK State when they were #22 by one. The ill. loss was at home the other 2 were on the road. If you go by the current ranking they have also beat Kansas State but also lost to an I ranked Ill team.

I think the highest seed they should get is a 12 seed.

    Lol. Stfu.

Gonzaga will get a #1 or a#2 seed, it really doesn't matter which they get. They probably deserve a #3 or a #4 seed. They have no bad losses(Illinois also defeated Indiana and they lost to Butler on a fluke play in Indianapolis.)

If they get a #1 or a #2 seed I would expect them to advance to the 2nd weekend. If they get a #3 or a #4 the chance of them advancing are 50/50.

Gonzaga has final four talent with Olynyk and Harris, but I worry about their ability to defend teams off the dribble (especially quicker guards not in the WCC). Most teams in March have the guard play to beat a team that cannot defend off the dribble.

Zags get a 1 seed then struggle in 8/9 game and lose in sweet 16 to a team like VCU, Arizona, Georgetown, St.Louis

I always thought that st Joe's team with jameer nelson was the weakest number one ever....but I think they had a pretty nice tournament run

It is tough to call the zags a weak number one since there isn't any great teams this year....very weak tournament in general

I really think that st joes team was very under rated. They went to the elite 8 and lost that heart breaker to Oklahoma st.

You are zany. I was ready for you to put them Top 26

WCC is down this year a lot. I'm sure they will get a 1 seed too but they will bounce out sweet 16.

They are definitely top 48. If they played in the B1G, they wouldn't even make the tournament.

I'd agree more but everyone just seems like they have way too many shitty games this year. Like every team has 2 or 3 ridiculous losses and several against ho hum teams on the road. I look at some of those #4-#6 seeds and I don't have a scratch of belief in hardly any of them. The #7-#10 seeds might lose to the 200th ranked team.

While I don't have a scratch of confidence in Gonzaga getting past a #12 seed, with all the other crap teams around the country....I still see them as a #6 seed, but should probably be about a #3 seed.

Crazy that the only losses that the Zags have are also half of IU's losses. Their conference hurts them and it won't change until they decide to go elsewhere. The only option in my eyes is the new Big East (or whatever it will be called), because everyone else wants a football team in their conference(except the WCC which has the BYU basketball team).

It seems to me that the new Catholic basketball conference would be a good fit for Gonzaga, even moreso considering it is a jesuit school. (Not that it matters, as the Catholic 7 is also taking on Butler and possibly Creighton, both non-Catholic insititutions.)

EDIT: This is probably what you meant when you said "new" Big East. Nevermind. I just read Big East.

I think Creighton is a Catholic University.

Given the geography,Gonzaga moving to the new ?Big East" might be manageable for basketball but what about the other 15 sports team that Gonzaga fields?

Correct, Creighton is a Jesuit university. Butler, however, is not.

Rec was 1/2 right which is pretty good.

My apologies for the egregious error.
  • Prescott
No reason to apologize, you did good.
