I'll go further and say this was too much. I am not concerned about Paterno's legacy since I believe he didn't uphold his responsibility. But the over-the-top punishment that was metted out within days of the report without any due process was as un-American a practice as can be pointed out. I don't give a hoot about Penn State, but that punishment exemplifies what is wrong with the NCAA
