Recruiting at other schools besides OSU/ND/Mich. A&M with 34 verbals

  • cats gone wild
Just saw where A&M got a huge 5* receiver and their verbals are up to 34. Whats the story on that? Is it the SEC oversigning? UGA is up to 30.
AUB has lost some recruits and USCw lost a 5* I believe. Im wondering if Kiffin will lose more. Of course Bama...the rich getting richer recruiting wise-while still playing nobodies from the SEC east to help them into the title game for next year too. Bama plays UK and UT next year while LSU plays UGA and UF. This is the 2nd year in a row BAMA gets out of playing good east teams while LSU plays the top 2-3. (the guy behind the scheduling is a Bama grad)
Whoa...Im criticizing the SEC some.

It's the SEC, they still have plenty of room.

Most of them will be dead/in jail by the time they get to enroll.

Is it the SEC oversigning?? Is water wet?

Was in on some conversation on twitter last week with some A&M fans. They only have 18 guys leaving, I believe they said. Figure a few will transfer. But they could only come up with 22 MAX. So where the other 12+ will come from should be interesting. They were also very pissy if mentioned with bama for oversigning but couldn't explain how they'd get to 85.

They also said they didn't sign enough last year, but their roster is at 85 scholly players. So I don't understand their point there.

I really just was trying to understand more of how the oversigning works and what the rules are in the sec. But it turned into me being a bitter osu fan. But I was literally just curious. But all it takes is one person to retweet out something I asked and I was getting bombarded by others.

The only thing Ive heard about A&M is not signing enough last year, players leaving/graduating and something about early enrollies dont count???

Early enrollee's can count toward the current Freshman class, if there were unused schollies.

I had heard 9 that were enrolling early counted towards last year because they didn't sign many. So that would bring them down to 25 there.

TX A&M could well be the next SMU of the 80s.

They signed 18 last year and according to 247, none early enrolled. That gives them 7 EE's possible for this year.

So do they have to be early enrollee's to count towards last year?? That'd make some sense of things.
  • karen lotz
Yes because technically they are enrolled in classes before NSD, so they'd be a part of the previous class.

I don't think I knew that. So 34-25=9. So they'd probably safely or even easily make it with some guys leaving and early enrollee's.

So if what Midstate posted is right, they'd still have to find room for 5 more to actually get everyone in. Does that sound right?

    34 signed - 7 EE = 27 commits

22 Max according to that source. Do they have the 25 rule, or is that NCAA?
  • cats gone wild
And someone mentioned above that they have 85 scholarship players even though they didnt sign enough last year. So how can they early enroll?

I believe they can actually sign 28.

They just have to be down to 25 when practice begins in August.

I know the big ten allows you to sign 3 over the max you can take. But you still have to be at 85 come fall practice.

Yea, the B1G is much stricter than the other conferences. For instances in the B1G, if you have 20 available schollies, you can only sign 23. In the other conferences, if you have 20 available schollies, you can still sign 28.

I thought that I read somewhere they were at 70, but that could have been one of the other schools doing the same thing.

It's possible. I wasn't chatting with writers. They were just fans.

The article I read (was a couple weeks ago) was talking about multiple schools. I don't remember if it was A&M with 70 though. I suppose that info is available somewhere.
