sleeperBasically tells you all you need to know about the playoff system and how much money it will generate. We won't be too far away from an 8 team playoff; 5 BCS conference champions(drop the Big East) and 3 wildcards with preference towards undefeated teams.

No thanks. I, for one, would love to see ND in the playoff every year given their record on the big stage. Does anyone not seriously enjoy watching ND get blown out and the ensuing rationalization by ND fans that occurs afterwards? I've got my popcorn popped already for the impending ND BCS bowl game(read: loss).Azubuike24;1319245 wrote:...and cut out the "Notre Dame clause." -

It's November. That popcorn is going to be horribly stale by the time you get to eat it. I mean, if it was just a few days...sure, it might be going bad, but you could probably still enjoy it. But a month and a half? Gross.sleeper;1319250 wrote:No thanks. I, for one, would love to see ND in the playoff every year given their record on the big stage. Looks like you just popped too soon. -

Oh I'm eating it right now. The hype and the lead up is just as good as the aftermath. I've got about 18 pounds of popcorn to eat which should go well with all the kool-aid Domer nation has been drinking this season.sherm03;1319353 wrote:It's November. I'm pretty sure the 4-team playoff was signed for something ridiculous like 12 or 14 years.sleeper;1319217 wrote:Basically tells you all you need to know about the playoff system and how much money it will generate. It was but multiple ADs have told reporters they think it will go to 8 by halfway through. I think once it gets going they'll see how good 8 could be. -
ThePatriotThat was the most retatrded exchange I've ever read on this site. Congratulating Sleeper and Sherm. That is no small feat.
I'll have my popcorn ready for round 2 of that. But I'm not going to make it too early because it might get stale. Or maybe I'll just pop 18 pounds and sit here and wait for you two to return. Wtf... -
said_aouitaI'd rather watch ND than another SEC team.

Trueblue23Yet they still won't pay the players lol

sleeper
Why should they? They already get a free education and about every perk in the book(and yes they do get a stipend for living expenses that's quite sizable).Trueblue23;1320161 wrote:Yet they still won't pay the players lol -
sleeperOSU players get about $1,000 a month for living expenses; in Columbus, OH $1,000 a month is more than most professionals make. They need to stop whining and grow up.

I didn't make $1,000/month while I was in college. I was lucky to make half that from my part-time job that paid about $7/hour.sleeper;1320168 wrote:OSU players get about $1,000 a month for living expenses; in Columbus, OH $1,000 a month is more than most professionals make. On top of that, I had to take out loans for my tuition that I am currently paying back.
If you want to pay them, I'm OK with that. But then they don't get to receive scholarships anymore. -

$1,000 a month is the reason many of them drive nice cars; because they can afford the lease payments on it in addition to anything else they want.sherm03;1320177 wrote:I didn't make $1,000/month while I was in college. I was lucky to make half that from my part-time job that paid about $7/hour.

Fly4FunVery few athletic departments run in the black... paying players is not really an option for the majority of places. The difference between haves and have nots would grow. Non-basketball/football sports would most likely have to be cut in order to make the $$ available.
And as commonly pointed out. These kids are getting a free education that is becoming extremely costly for most students.
