I would be curious to see if he could turn around a bottom feeder in the SEC. -
sleeperNo chance.

sleeperAnd let's be honest here, if Tressel was the coach at Kentucky, they would win the SEC East every year.

LJI don't think UK would want the NCAA attention that comes with hiring Tress with Cal being there

That's a good point. lolLJ;1313925 wrote:I don't think UK would want the NCAA attention that comes with hiring Tress with Cal being there -

It's an excellent point--talk about being a lightning rod for the NCAAFatHobbit;1313927 wrote:That's a good point. lol -

Didn't Tressel have issues beating SEC teams, especially in important games?LJ;1313925 wrote:I don't think UK would want the NCAA attention that comes with hiring Tress with Cal being there -

It wasn't just Tressel. It's OSU in bowl games against the SEC in general.hilliardfan;1313990 wrote:Didn't Tressel have issues beating SEC teams, especially in important games? -
GOONx19There would be no NCAA lightning rod, and UK would compete within three or four years. But it's a moot point, because there's no chance it would ever happen.

Pick6Doesnt Tressel have 4 years of his show-cause left? Not happening anyways. I want him to stay at Akron

I thought he did, but the article confused me a little as to what that means.Pick6;1314054 wrote:Doesnt Tressel have 4 years of his show-cause left? Not happening anyways. I want him to stay at Akron
Tressel was hit with a five-year, show-cause penalty for covering up rules violations, using ineligible players and lying to the NCAA. Show-cause penalties are supposed to be poison. Why would Kentucky go anywhere near him?Tressel’s penalty is not as severe as, say, former Tennessee basketball coach Bruce Pearl’s. Tressel is allowed to recruit. He is allowed to hire a staff. He is required to sit out five weeks of meetings, practices and games before he can coach, and he cannot coach a bowl game in his first year — but these are trifles for the likes of Kentucky. -

lol, ok :rolleyes:GOONx19;1314014 wrote:There would be no NCAA lightning rod, and UK would compete within three or four years. -

By compete he means not lose by 40 every week.vball10set;1314068 wrote:lol, ok  -

Now that makes sense.Rotinaj;1314147 wrote:By compete he means not lose by 40 every week. -
wkfanKY would have to overcome that little NCAA thing called a 5 year show-cause penalty that Mr. Tressel is currently under.
Like someone else said, I doubt that they want that type of scrutiny around what goes on in Lexington with Mr. Calipari currently there..... -
TiernanWhy would they want to be worse than they already are?

said_aouitaBetter chance of Luke Fickell going to UK than Tressel.

Azubuike24This has been talked about before. I think it could happen, and there are some discussions about the NCAA sanctions and discussions about it being reduced. We'll see.
UK is an interesting job because they have a boatload of money to throw around. It's just a matter of whether they will put it towards football. Many have said they can get a huge name coach if they upgrade facilities, recruiting budget and the stadium. All have the capability of being top tier in the SEC. If they do, I see them going all in on everything. If not, WHICH IS LIKELY, they will settle for a coordinator or lesser-known coach and continue the below average cycle. -
gyea36I see the Petrino talk has started too. Tressel would get tons of Ohio kids, especially with Urban not emphasizing Ohio recruiting as much. Kentucky would grow quickly.

Where'd you get this information?gyea36;1315778 wrote:I see the Petrino talk has started too. Tressel would get tons of Ohio kids, especially with Urban not emphasizing Ohio recruiting as much. Kentucky would grow quickly. -

I do think Urban wants to recruit nationally more than Tressel did.vball10set;1315791 wrote:Where'd you get this information? -

Probabaly, but I have to believe he'll emphasize Ohio just as much. Not only is he from here, I'm sure he knows the dearth of talent here. He may have a larger recruiting radius than Tressel, but I'm confident he'll go after the in-state talent just as hard as JT did.FatHobbit;1315812 wrote:I do think Urban wants to recruit nationally more than Tressel did. -

Of course he will, but there are only so many schollies available. Tress could definitely get a few top tier, and quite a few 2nd tier guys out of Ohio.vball10set;1315876 wrote:Probabaly, but I have to believe he'll emphasize Ohio just as much. As will Meyer. The biggest difference is that UM, in addition to getting these Ohio kids, will also get more of the 'top tier' guys from out of state, something Tress didn't do consistently.se-alum;1315998 wrote:Of course he will, but there are only so many schollies available.
