Do they play music at the Schottenstein Center?

During timeouts and clock stoppages all I ever hear on TV is the pep band. Do they play music at all during the games? It seems the lack of sound makes the building feel empty, which it can't be.

They do on occasion. Not like an NBA game, but the pep band does most of the music playing.

    Does Cameron Indoor play music???

Assembly Hall in Bloomington doesnt. Its all done by the band (minus pre-game, up until about 20 minutes before tip-off).

I didnt think music was ever really played in college basketball arenas. Maybe its just Indiana???

Cameron does not, but then again Cameron is the size of a high school gym so you can hear the band. The Schott is so cavernous you can barely hear the pep band at time outs.

I have never had a problem hearing the band at VCA. They have mic's around them to help like most pep bands have.

What i'm famliar with though is a combination of both.

9 times out of 10 the athletic band will play but they may play maybe 1 or 2 songs during a timeout in the game. Not to mention they usually play a song during halftime if there's not a special promotion/show.

I think Comcast in College Park is very much like the Schott and they have a much better atmosphere because they play more music.
maybe OSU should consider doing something similar to improve its in game atmosphere.

I mean from my perspective, I like when they play music. You can only take the same few OSU songs over and over again for so long. I also do a mean jig during the rare times they play "Shipping of to Boston" and the crowd goes nuts. I think it would improve the atmosphere for sure...look what happened when they played Seven Nation Army for football.
