9/29/2012 Betting Thread

Today is a pretty slow weekend. Generally, I ramp up my bets on these days to give me more of an incentive to sit around and do nothing but watch football. Thoughts on today's games? I have 3 bets already down.

Parlay (4 team) - Missouri (+115) at UCF, Ohio State/Michigan State (over 41.5), Penn State (-1) at Illinois and Wisconsin (+12) at Nebraska.

    South Carolina (-20.5) over Kentucky.

I need some others. Thoughts on the following?

    Northwestern -11.5 vs Indiana.
    Arkansas +13.5 at Texas A&M.
    Miami Ohio -2 at Akron.
Cincinnati +230 at Virginia Tech (I think Cincy can win straight up).
    Arizona State -2 at California.
Florida State -16.5 at South Florida.
    Mississippi at Alabama under 54.

I threw a couple other parlays out there.

    Parlay (4 Teams)
    Arkansas +13.5
    CincinnatiU(N) +7.5
    Florida State/South Florida Over 52.5
    TexasTech/Iowa State Under 62.5

    Parlay (3 Teams)
    Arizona State -2
    Miami Ohio -2
    Mississippi/Alabama Under 53.5

Thoughts on any other single games at 3:30 PM or later?

I like Arkansas and Wisconsin against the spread.

Ended up sneaking out the South Carolina -20.5. Won the parlay on Bama/Ole Miss under, ASU and Miami. I took Oregon/Wazzou over 73. We'll see on that. Not a bad day though.

Anybody see some early lines they really like? There's a couple 6pt teasers in college football I like, but I haven't seen any lines that I instantly put big money on. I'm debating about doing a parlay and taking UF and WVU straight up.

When the lines came out late Sunday night, it listed Mississippi State +11 at Kentucky. It was quickly taken down as re-posted as Mississippi State -10.5. It was only up for like 6 minutes, but bets could've been taken. Ouch for those sites who just copied the lines and uploaded...

I kinda like Penn State, Florida, NC State, South Carolina, and Marshall/Tulsa over (This one looks way too easy-So it will probably lose).

Also, I would avoid playing teasers in college. Teasers are good in the NFL, but there isn't a lot of value with them in the college game.

They are a good choice when the point totals are under 50 points

I think I like USC -13.5 against Utah on Thursday. With no Jordan Wynn I can't really see Utah hanging.

I also like Va Tech +4.5 against UNC, Michigan -3 against Purdue, and Ohio State -3 against Nebraska.

Based on what? I am not trying to start an argument, I have just found teasers are not near as useful in college as they are in the NFL. They are almost always better on sides and not totals.

According to the site that I use (Vegasinsider) of the 51 games that had totals last week, teasing the total 6 points either way would have only changed the effected the winner in 16 of those (31%). That is just not good enough to bring much long term success.

Thoughts on Northwestern +4 at Penn State? Seems to be an awful lot, even though PSU has looked good 3 straight weeks. I also think West Virginia getting 6-7 points at Texas is pretty steep as well. Am I crazy for liking Notre Dame by 12 over Miami?

Yeah I like NW getting +4 actually will probably take them straight up. I also like ND -12. As for WVU I'm taking them at -7 I think they will win by at least 10.

West Virginia is getting 7 last I saw...

Yeah they are getting 6.5 now haha. I looked at it wrong still I like WVU so I'd take them getting the points :).

Parlay time for tomorrow. There are some great match-ups, but I'm wary of the spreads in those games (outside of WVU).

The more I look into it though, I really like OSU at home. I also really like FSU to rebound and clobber NCSU. I also like BYU tonight, a lot, as I think Utah State is overrated after only beating Colorado State by 12 (maybe I'm just bitter that game cost me 25 bucks for USU not covering).

    Lets get some more thoughts!

Went 5-0 on these. Good day in college. Too bad I gave it back in the NFL. Haha.
