October 6th big games
-
cats gone wildOct 6th will be a huge day for college football fans. And the polls will change alot after it. Without looking at the schedule for that weekend, I know that these 8 teams are playing each other.
Georgia vs USCe
NEB vs OSU
LSU vs Florida
Texas vs West Virginia -
ernest_t_bassNO ONE CARES ABOUT LSU

SpeedofsandOh yeah? Florida is going to spray lots of pesticide on the east sideline next week to stop Les from eating all the grass. Or poison him, his choice.

Azubuike24Ohio State is ineligible and Nebraska has a loss. Both are irrelevant nationally this season.
LSU vs Florida
Iowa State vs TCU
West Virginia vs Texas
Georgia vs South Carolina
BCS games between unbeaten teams. -

Who said anything about national relevance...did I mss something here? Anyway, you're a Kentucky fan, for godsakes :rolleyes:Azubuike24;1282600 wrote:Ohio State is ineligible and Nebraska has a loss. Both are irrelevant nationally this season.

cats gone wildI will take UGA, OSU, LSU, WVU and TCU in the games mentioned.

Azubuike24The title was "big games" for October 6th.
I define a big game as one that has relevance outside of this website.
So I guess it depends how long you want the list to be. In-terms of games on this day, OSU/NEB does not belong on the list. That was my point. My allegiance to Kentucky, I'm not sure what it has to do with this thread? I was commenting on the big games in this weekend. The ones I listed were "my big games."
The Kentucky game that day doesn't make my list as they will get crushed and nobody outside of Starkville, MS or maybe some parts of SEC fans would consider it a big game. -
cats gone wildI made sure I put it on the list because of the local liking of them, and because they are both ranked*. Az, Im shocked you spoke some truth that might upset some people. Thats not like you.

sleeperOhio State is irrelevant this year, but I still enjoy watching one of the greatest academic powerhouses in the country compete on the gridiron.

Is there a big ivy league game going on that day?sleeper;1282632 wrote:Ohio State is irrelevant this year, but I still enjoy watching one of the greatest academic powerhouses in the country compete on the gridiron. -
Azubuike24I don't intentionally try to ruffle feathers on any forum. Others do. I have my allegiances and I have my dislikes/hates. I generally don't discuss the latter. Unless you're a fan of the conference or of a team in the conference, there isn't another B1G this season, until the Rose Bowl, that has any real national relevance or interest. You can argue traditional rivalries, championship games, etc...but none have title implications. Maybe if Minnesota and Northwestern somehow remain unbeaten by October 13th, that might be one. Amazingly, it's September 28th and that's the only possible game that could match unbeaten teams.

Actually, when you get on an Ohio based board with a predominantly Ohio State fanbase, and then proceed to mock said fanbase with your "relevancy" comment (when it has absolutely nothing to do with the games being played that day), then yes, you will "ruffle some feathers". If you want to get on here and post what you perceive to be your "big games", then by all means, have at it. However, as CGW stated, both teams are ranked, so yes, it would be considered a "big game".Azubuike24;1282634 wrote:I don't intentionally try to ruffle feathers on any forum. -

So it cant be a big game?Azubuike24;1282600 wrote:Ohio State is ineligible and Nebraska has a loss. Both are irrelevant nationally this season. -
Azubuike24Sure it can. Arkansas vs Auburn is a huge game that day too...in Auburn, AL and Fayetteville, AR, especially for fans wanting their nightmare seasons to end.
Any game could be a big game...IMO, that one isn't, for that reason. -

My point exactly. Sleeper gets slammed for playing the 'relevancy card' in ND threads, which he does for no other reason than to "ruffle feathers"...just sayin'.Azubuike24;1282752 wrote:Sure it can. Azubuike24Sleeper's agenda and my agenda isn't the same. If OSU/NEB WAS relevant nationally, even though I don't necessarily care about the game, I'd post it. Notre Dame could be #1, playing for a BCS title appearance and Sleeper would find a way to discuss their past, their lack of relevance since 1991, their 0-3 record in BCS wins, their bowl losing streak, the death of the ND video trainer, etc...anything BUT the actual game at-hand.
Either way, it's kind of a futile argument. I certainly can understand how specific people can define any game as big. I just took the intention of the thread in a different way. Watch OSU/NEB end up being some epic game now and I look foolish here -
sleeperOh Christ. Notre Dame has never been #1 and has never had a BCS title appearance. If they ever do(they never will), they will be discredited because of their terrible history in big games.
What is their to discuss about the "game on hand" when the game hasn't even happened yet? All we can talk about is how bad ND plays against big teams in their past, their 0-3 BCS bowl losses by an average of 24.33 ppg, and their negligent coach who killed a kid and then "accepted responsibility" by everyone keeping their job. -
Azubuike24Haha, I knew you would respond. I'm not arguing about ND. I don't give a shit about them. I was just prefacing the idea that even IF, SOMEHOW, they got to #1 and were in position for a title...
