Playing that kind of offense is hard to prepare for. The academies run their offense so good. -

Are you saying that Michigan isn't overrated. And in my opinion yes they are one of, if not the most, overrated teams in the countryHb31187;1264865 wrote:So losing to the top team in the country and struggling w an armed forces school and their option attack (muchhhh like osu last time they played one)=most overrated team in the country? Gotta love osu fans -
killer_ewokMaybe Desmond Howard will be less smug now when talking about ND playing an academy.

I agree.:thumbup:Tiger2003;1264888 wrote:Michigan fans are just as bad. I think they were overrated at #8 but I still think they are a good football team. -

Thank you.Hb31187;1264865 wrote:Gotta love osu fans -
WebFireDidn't get to watch the game today. Just reading some comments about the game, sounds like it could be a long season. I don't care what offense Air Force runs, Michigan should handle them easy.

At #8 yes they were overrated to start or they just ran into a buzz saw in Alabama. Maybe both. But ranked in the teens, no they're not overrated at all imo.wotown44;1264931 wrote:Are you saying that Michigan isn't overrated. WebFireI can't say Michigan has done anything to show they should be ranked anything. At the same time, OSU hasn't shown anything to say they are a top 15 team.

You just can't make a post without bringing THE OSU into it, can you...it's actually quite comicalWebFire;1264998 wrote:I can't say Michigan has done anything to show they should be ranked anything. At the same time, OSU hasn't shown anything to say they are a top 15 team. -

You are actually posting this shit? You OSU fans come on the Michigan game thread and talk about them being overrated? And you have the nerve tos post this? :thumbdown:vball10set;1265000 wrote:You just can't make a post without bringing THE OSU into it, can you...it's actually quite comical -

That's a link to the box score of Alabama and Georgia Southern LAST YEAR. We know how awesome Alabama's Defense was last year, but they gave up OVER 300 yards on the ground and the most points all season (21) to FCS Georgia Southern and their Triple Option offense.
If Alabama's Defense from a National Championship team can struggle vs. the triple option, then ours can as well and still be ok.
I would say that Air Force>Georgia Southern. -

Because you are all so hypocritical. Putting a smiley or winkey face after your statement doesn't make it ok. If I went on the OSU game thread and talked about them being overrated, you would have been all over it.vball10set;1265176 wrote:hahahaha--it's so easy with you, webbie  -

Meh. I only watched one half, and they looked like crap in almost all phases. The OL really worries me.bigkahuna;1265111 wrote:http://espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=313230333

No doubt they are. Calhoun has a different look and flavor than the traditional triple that's run at GA So. Georgia Southern's Coach is a disciple of Ken Niumatalolo form Navy.bigkahuna;1265111 wrote:...

I completely agree. Fitz had what 9 carries for 8 yards? It just wasn't a good game, but I'm trying to see a silver lining.WebFire;1265196 wrote:Meh. I only watched one half, and they looked like crap in almost all phases. The OL really worries me.
I HOPE this game was a mix of a "feeling sorry for ourselves" layover from last week and a complex scheme to defend.
Indiana BLEW OUT UMass yesterday 45-6. If we don't beat UMass by 50 (I'm being serious here), then I'll jump on the panic boat. -

Yea, I figured Air Force was much like Navy/Georgia Tech.Con_Alma;1265201 wrote:No doubt they are. Calhoun has a different look and flavor than the traditional triple that's run at GA So. Georgia Southern's Coach is a disciple of Ken Niumatalolo form Navy.
I actually enjoyed watching them play yesterday. They mixed up the running plays to more than just option right/option left. Their tempo was amazing! I think that system could actually have tons of success at a big time school because of the "balance"/tempo. I'll say the temp again. You just don't see that with a scheme like that; loved it. -

No, Air Force is very different than Navy and Ga. So. Calhoun blocks the triple differently and uses it as a part of his offense as opposed to it it being 90% of his play calling. That was my point.
They are also better than Navy this year. -

I typed that wrong. I meant that I thought they were like that going into the game. I should have typed my last statement with "However..."Con_Alma;1265283 wrote:No, Air Force is very different than Navy and Ga. So. After the game started, I realized they are nothing like the "traditional" Triple Option. -
0311sdpMichigan's run defense should be a concern for Michigan fans no matter what scheme your playing against. The triple option defense is just play assignment football. Also Michigan's offense other than Denard was -4 yards. So yes there is reason for concern in Ann Arbor. (Panic no, concern yes.)
-
WebFireI am concerned.

WebFireThere is a reason why the freshman (Hoke's first class) will be seeing the most playing time of any Michigan freshman class ever. We just are short on B1G talent, and not much depth.

Funchess seemed pretty legit to me though. He looks like a hybrid TE that can line up inside and block or out in the slot and actually be a WR. He reminds me of the hybrid TEs Oklahoma had a few years ago; great for personnel groupings. He definitely has me excited.WebFire;1266686 wrote:There is a reason why the freshman (Hoke's first class) will be seeing the most playing time of any Michigan freshman class ever. WebFireYes, he will be a good one. And much needed this season with practically no good TEs on the roster. Jake Butt is also enrolling early. I expect him to see a lot of time next season.
