Knight, back in Indiana criticizes Calipari :)

  I can't see anything that Knight said, that wasn't true... am I missing something?
  
  I agree with Knight, the rules need changed, it isn't right for a coach to break the rules, get caught, and skip town before the punishment gets levied. IMO if a coach gets busted BOTH he and the college should be penalized. Plus, I think Knight touched on something that needs to be considered. A la a strike policy. After so many infractions, you are done. No more college hoops for you

  What moral principles allow you to choke a player?? I think Bob Knight is one hell of a coach, but him preaching about how someone else acts is funny.

  ^Not like this...you can criticize him for what he's done but it's nothing like what he's talking about. He set the example for the kind of thing he is saying is lacking.

  Everyone here disagreeing with Knight is not understanding what he is saying. Knight is mad about the integrity of college basketball and the academics that go along with it. He has no beef with how a program is run outside of that. He speaks the truth about Cal...(he has put 2 programs on probation under his watch). The whole Rose fiasco is what has been called out at Memphis. But you cant actually think Cal didnt know that a kid was flying to Detroit to take his SAT when that is where World Wide Wes is located, after the kid failed the test in Chicago where people knew what he actually looked like and couldnt get away with cheating. And honestly if he didnt, he SHOULD be punished for having his program associated with people who WILL DO those things.
  
  I dont agree with how Knight handled people, but his integrity is in tact and he ran as clean a program as you could ever ask a coach to run.

  I have no idea about whether Coach Calipari's program is "clean" or "dirty". I do know that he wins everywhere he goes and that's why college coaches get hired for the most part. Put fans in the seats, bring in revenue and prestige to the university and so forth. I have a pretty good feeling about Coach Knight's program and while I could not be comfortable or successful using the coaching approach that Coach Knight uses, I'm not him and could never be him so I would say that Coach Calipari and coach Knight have both been highly successful college basketball coaches and leave it at that.

  Yeah Laley, it really has ZERO to do with anything Knight did--not sure why anyone is even bringing that up. He isn't wrong in what he said, so I don't understand how based on anything he did you could take what he said a different way.

  Knight knew the crowd he was speaking to, also. In the state of Indiana...where he was fired...where his assistant Mike Davis was treated like garbage...where IU hired repeated rules offender Kelvin Sampson...where Sampson embarrassed the proud IU program. Hell yeah, The General still knows how to work a crowd...

  Bobby Knight is 100% correct, and I'm glad he called Cal out.
  
  There is ZERO accountability in college basketball now days. The NCAA should punish coaches as well as the schools.

  This is the bottom line.
  
  Knight is correct: coaches who put programs on probation need to be PUNISHED in some way. There needs to be consequences, otherwise what's the incentive for some coach (making a million dollars or more per year) to stay clean?
  
  If he knows his livelihood can be taken away, he's much more likely to stay clean. If a player breaks NCAA rules, he loses eligibility; why should it be different for a coach?

  Seth Davis commented on this situation. His advice is for Bob Knight to won up to his transgressions before criticizing other coaches.
