Can't even begin to summarize...just too weird. Glad to see the school took quick action.

Nothing like hiding under the veil of irrational Christian belief when confronted with sexual violations of a minor.

    Simply disgusting.

Rumors abound that LB recruit Alex Anzalone has decommitted due to this. This is not good.

May 4, 2012 - Alex Anzalone, a top linebacker recruit, has decommitted from Ohio State just weeks after committing to the Buckeyes. Out of Wyomissing (Pa.) High School, Anzalone is a consensus four-star recruit. He holds offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Boston Coll., Colorado, Connecticut, Duke, Florida, Florida St., Georgia, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan St., North Carolina, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn St., Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, South Carolina, Stanford, Syracuse, Temple, USC, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.
Anzalone was one of the recruits involved in a bizarre situation with a convicted sex offender and Ohio State fan by the name of Eric Waugh. It is unknown if that situation had anything to do with Anzalone's decommitment.
The decommitment was first reported by Rivals' Mike Farrell: [INDENT] Mike Farrell @rivalsmike

According to this link..it's the reason behind the decommit. http://readingeagle.com/mobile/article.aspx?id=384313

I thought tOSU's handling of this was appropriate. Responded quickly once it was figured out that this wasnt just an overzealous fan.

I'd imagine you can't manage every second with a recruit, that's sort of unrealistic, but I also get the recruit being totally creeped out by this moron...and deciding to go elsewhere.

    Shitty.

    I think Dad's an asshat.
  • RedRider1
I think dad has unrealistic expectations. He's saying he doesnt blame the OSU staff...but then he blames them.

This is one guy, not a student or a university employee, with some obviously serious issues. He's impugning an entire fanbase.
  • ytownfootball
Sounds like a control freak who didn't want his kid going to Ohio State in the first place, and a pic with a pedophile gave him all the reason he needed to reassert his authority, even if only for one last time. I especially like that the staff let him go to places where he's in harms way...fucking BW3's. Wish the kid the best, but Dr. Dad wins this round.
  • RedRider1
    Yeah..it wasn't like it was strip clubs. I think you're right..bet dad wasn't a Buckeye.

And ironic that Penn St is being considered. The pedophiles there were on the school payroll..but no worries, right?

    "Something's wrong at Ohio State"

Yep, wasn't at the top of your list Dad...this guy lol

Would like to have the kid, but damn, meddling parents are the worst influence ever once kids leave the nest.

Didn't Alex himself say something wasn't right about the visit after he got home? Could just be that the pics and what not pushed him over the edge.
  • ytownfootball
I'm sure it was after speaking with pops on the subject. Pics come out, Dad flips out, cause his rep as a Doc just took a shot cause his kid is hanging with a registered pedo, Dad says "I'm sending you to Penn St." Kid says "ok" cause he wants the Escalade cause prom is next week.
  • karen lotz
If I recall correctly, his dad is a Florida grad, right? I'll believe your conspiracy theory if he ends up there. :)
  • ytownfootball
I don't know if I read where pops went to school, Florida sounds about right judging by his actions.

What would people like OSU to have done? Do background checks on everyone who communicates with a student athlete on Twitter? I'm unclear how the University is at fault here. Did they set the guy up with the players/recruits or something?

Your over-the-top loathing of Christianity is almost as bizarre as Waugh's desire to hang out with Jerry Sandusky in the Ohio State men's locker room.

    Simply disgusting.

Apparently this kids visit wasn't an official one..meaning OSU had little to no oversight of his activities.

The dad is pouring gasoline on this.
  • vball10set
Bottom line is the kid obviously wasn't totally comfortable with his commitment, and this was a convenient 'out' for him. Better now than later.

What's not right--that his visit wasn't official, or that OSU had little oversight of his activities?

Agreed. Anyone with any sense of reasonableness understands.

He can't take an official until his senior year starts so thanks for the info redrider. OSU has quite a bit of oversight of his activities. I'm not saying they told him to go hang out and take pictures with the guru, but they still plan out what the recruits do the entire time they are visiting.

Seems like the Anzalones are the only one placing blame on OSU. Though it was contradicting when he blamed the coaches and then said he didn't think they knew.
