You're an athletic director...you sure you want to go to the BCS title game?

    Very interesting read:

Alabama spent more than $3.9 million on the bowl game in New Orleans for the Jan. 9 BCS National Championship Game against LSU. That cost was offset by a $1.925 million payout by the bowl to each of the participating schools for expenses.

How does it cost that much to send your team to the BCS? If I'm a school that knows how to spend money, then yeah there is no doubt I'm going to a BCS Title game. The recruits, TV time, etc. that comes with it is great.

Here's the expense report...lol @ 1.5 million in "other" expenses

I mean it is the SEC, so I am guessing each player got a gym bag full of money.

lol at the perdiem and meals for the "official party" (49 people) for 3 days being 137k and the band and cheerleaders (393 people) being 60k for 4 days.

They spent more money in 1 day to travel the team and staff (336 people) then they spent on the band and cheerleaders (393) the whole 4 days they traveled.

It came out to ~28,000/ day for the team and staff, while they spent a total of ~18,000 for the 4 day trip for band and staff.

    Funny stuff.

Saban got 400K for playing in the national championship game, I am sure other coaches got bonuses as well. I imagine that was included in the cost sheet as performance bonuses.

Wouldn't it cost just as much for any bowl game as long as you took the same amount of people and stayed the same length of time. I would rather pay that for my team to make the bcd title game and get a ton of advertising for my school then pay that for the papa johns bowl team
