LJWhen are game times released? after the play ins?
-
NilesPacManWow...
That puts down any belief that the committee favors the S-Curve. -

I don't think so. I think by tomorrow evening. I think. -

Usually late this evening, after CBS sits down and basically puts shit where they want itLJ;1112821 wrote:When are game times released? after the play ins? -
mallymal614Okay didn't this guy say the winner of Mich St and Ohio St likely would have got the #1 seed? Now he saying Ohio State was third #2 seed? Sounding like a politician flip flopping lol
-
ts1227
How so? He said the winner would vault to 4 overall, he never said what the loss would to the other one.mallymal614;1112825 wrote:Okay didn't this guy say the winner of Mich St and Ohio St likely would have got the #1 seed? He dodged answering if OSU would have gotten the 1 seed had they beat MSU today. He said that MSU, by beating OSU two out of three times, had the edge for the 1. However, the same could have been said about OSU had they won today. The guy was being a dork about it.mallymal614;1112825 wrote:Okay didn't this guy say the winner of Mich St and Ohio St likely would have got the #1 seed? Now he saying Ohio State was third #2 seed? Thought the same thing. Which tells me, if OSU had won, they still wouldn't have gotten a #1.GoJPM!;1112831 wrote:He dodged answering if OSU would have gotten the 1 seed had they beat MSU today. ptown_trojans_1OSU the number 7 team, over Duke? I guess destroying Duke doesn't count...
Oh well. -
ts1227
He contradicted himself. At first he said the final 1 was open based on the game result, then was skittish when they asked it in a more specific way. I think they would have got it had they won.centralbucksfan;1112833 wrote:Thought the same thing. Which tells me, if OSU had won, they still wouldn't have gotten a #1. -

What you do in November and December doesn't seem to factor in anymore.ptown_trojans_1;1112834 wrote:OSU the number 7 team, over Duke? I guess destroying Duke doesn't count...

ts1227OK, NOW they're saying they may have not put them there, definitively. It sounds like it was a big sticking point on the committee there.
The committee chair tried to dance around it again, Gumbel said "well if OSU had won, they had 2 out of 3", and the other guy finally gave a damn answer. -

MulvaDuke beat Michigan State, Kansas, and Michigan in November. You don't think those wins played in?
-
ts1227
Duke is a bad example, because they basically just say "Oh hey, it's Duke", and build a bracket around wherever they put them.Mulva;1112871 wrote:Duke beat Michigan State, Kansas, and Michigan in November. You don't think those wins played in? -

They also lost to Temple, Miami and Fla St twice.Mulva;1112871 wrote:Duke beat Michigan State, Kansas, and Michigan in November. You don't think those wins played in? -
Fly4FunI like OSU's bracket. I'm glad we have Syracuse as the #1 seed as I never thought that highly of them all year. The one thing I don't want OSU to do is have to play Wisconsin again.

reclegend22The Duke vs. Kentucky Elite Eight scenario 20 years after the Laettner game is the committee's biggest surprise. Must have been a coincidence.
Ohio State-Cincy would be an intriguing in-state confrontation in the Sweet 16, but Leonard Hamilton really has his boys playing strangling defense around the perimeter and might present Sean Kilpatrick and Cashmere Wright a lot of trouble. The Bearcats will definitely need those two guys to shoot well to advance.
A lot of truly great games are possible this year. I'd really like to see an IU-Kentucky rematch in Atlanta. The Georgia Dome would be split red/blue halfway down the middle for that game like the rivalry of old when played in the Hoosier/RCA Dome. It'd be the definition of a neutral site. -
daveDon't really see much to complain about, there are always questions but nothing glaring. MSU having to play St Louis/Memphis in their second game is a rough one.

I picked Duke because ptown was complaining about them being seeded ahead of OSU when OSU won the head to head easily.ts1227;1112885 wrote:Duke is a bad example, because they basically just say "Oh hey, it's Duke", and build a bracket around wherever they put them.
Duke beat 6 tournament teams + Tennessee and Washington in their non-conference schedule.
The ACC was pretty down this year. What they did in November and December was the driving factor in their seed. It's not like the committee threw out Ohio State's win over them, it's just that head-to-head isn't the only criteria. -
se-alumI actually really like the draw for OSU. They could make a big run in that bracket. Unfortunately, it all depends on Buford, and that makes me uneasy.

Midstate01I don't think Syracuse is THAT good, but that zone would kill us!
