#3 Mizzou @ #5 Kansas

Laley23Ive got nothing to support that claim other than Tweets. But they did come in from 4 different people. They said it was equal to a jet plane taking off, or 140 dbs. Not sustained, but quick hits when shots were made. I would guess the sustained noise was about the 120 that KU put up.
I would venture to say when Watford hit the shot it got to be pretty crazy loud though.
I remember the Duke/IU game when Killingsworth had 33 and got a go-ahead dunk. I had a headache the next morning still lol. UK was louder. -

reclegend22My sincere apologies, but, in terms of big games, North Carolina-Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium is just as feverish as any atmosphere offered by any arena in the country.
I'm not saying its better than the others -- because the real big games in Lawrence, Lexington, Chapel Hill, East Lansing, Syracuse, Bloomington, etc. produce absolutely tremendous game-day experiences -- but Cameron is right there in the discussion.
As for best games and atmospheres that we've seen on the season to date, I think the first Duke-UNC game in Chapel Hill was pretty good. It just wasn't as loud as some of the others because the home team crowd was frozen by Subzero. -
Laley23
CIA I agree with. Dean Dome, Carrier and Izzone dont get as loud. The atmosphere may be great still. But sheer noise, they arent wuite the same.reclegend22;1095966 wrote:My sincere apologies, but, in terms of big games, North Carolina-Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium is just as feverish as any atmosphere offered by any arena in the country.

Cameron, Assembly Hall, PH Fieldhouse and Rupp would be (the only 4 on) tier one, imo.
Also, no need to apologize. Just saying the game at CIA has a lot to live up to. The first one was great, but the Dean Dome just isnt quite the same. If that same game happens in CIA, you have the top 3 games of the year, in the top 3 atmospheres all sharing its claim to best. -
killer_ewokI missed the game yesterday afternoon but just saw this tweet from Jason Whitlock....
@WhitlockJason: Let me repeat: foul at end of OT screwed Mizz! Totally bogus, bullshit call. Hate when refs decide games late.
What the heck happened? Is Whitlock making a big deal out of nothing or was there a bad call late? The highlights I saw showed Mizzou hitting a 3 but clearly after time expired. -
Laley23
I assume he is talking about the foul that Kansas was given, sending them to the line. Not that very end of the game. It wasnt terrible as in there is no argument.killer_ewok;1096113 wrote:I missed the game yesterday afternoon but just saw this tweet from Jason Whitlock....

But you know what Jason? Mizzou screwed themselves. You know, when the blew a NINETEEN point lead. Yeah, then, thats when they screwed themselves. -
killer_ewokOkay. Was wondering what he was talking about.

SportsAndLadyYeah even I can admit the foul on TT was a little weak, but he was going hard to the rim and drew contact, you see that call all the time, but you also see it not get called quite a bit, too.
Whitlocks just mad because it was a call in the last 10 seconds to decide the game (either that or kansas has withey and teahan, whom are both white..so he was rooting for mizzou).
If he really wanted to complain about the refs, complain about Robinson's first 2 bogus fouls. Wow were they horrible. And as Jay Bilas tweeted, both terrible calls (his words) led to a 3 pointer by mizzou.
Anyone can play the "blame the refs" game but it's not like they're biased towards one team..if they're bad, they'll make bad calls against BOTH teams, because bad refs make bad calls. It's not that hard to comprehend. -
killer_ewokYeah, sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if race had something to do with it. LOL

This I pretty much agree with. However, based on the pure awesome nature of a game at the Carrier Dome between two top ranked teams or rivals (UConn or Georgetown) in front of 30,000 people dressed in orange, I think the Carrier Dome could easily be placed in that top tier. That place is insane and, in my opinion, even louder than Rupp on nights such as the one described above.Laley23;1096109 wrote:CIA I agree with. Dean Dome, Carrier and Izzone dont get as loud. SportsAndLadyNo it's CIA. It's a government coverup to get Duke calls

SportsAndLadyIt's a blog, so take it FWIW:
http://drawergeek.blogspot.com/I'll give MU credit, they weren't fazed by the insane KU atmosphere, which registered a 127 decibel reading, a record for a college basketball game (louder than an airplane taking off from 100 yards away). -

There was no contact. That call was as weak a call late in a game as I have seen in a while. That being said, what a GREAT game. Give KU credit..they made a GREAT comeback. I knew they would as Mizzou kept burping up 3's. When you play team that relies on 3's as much as Mizzou does, they will always give you the chance to get back into the game.SportsAndLady;1096212 wrote:Yeah even I can admit the foul on TT was a little weak, but he was going hard to the rim and drew contact, you see that call all the time, but you also see it not get called quite a bit, too.

I like this Kansas team. They are playing well and I could see them as sleepers. They have a legit stud in middle. If TT plays within himself, they are tough. He is the key to this team. They go as he goes. -

Even when I say it's a pretty weak call, you gotta be a dick lol i really hate you -
reclegend22Really, I think it's amazing how far under the radar Kansas is flying. More and more this is looking like a team that will end up in the Final Four and the Jayhawks are still not getting much respect as legit title contenders. They remind me a lot of Duke in 2010. Not personnel-wise, but in terms of the success achieved by the two teams -- 2012 Kansas, winner of the Big XII, is 24-5 while 2010 Duke, winner of the ACC, was 25-5 at this point -- without ever being able to break into that upper-echelon of title competitors (in 2010 it was juggernaut Kentucky and, ironically enough, Kansas and in 2012 it is juggernauts Kentucky and Syracuse). And we all know how it ended for the Blue Devils.
Note: I promise this was not just a shameless reason to bring that championship up again I was just thinking about this the other day and I could see Kansas making a similar national title run. Merely an inkling. -

No it's a pretty good comparison. I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but that Duke team got an INCREDIBLE draw in the tourney, and I really think the only way Kansas is national title good this year is if they receive a similar draw...the reason for that is there are just so many title contending teams this year, that I don't think KU will be able to go through 2 or 3 of them.reclegend22;1097602 wrote:Really, I think it's amazing how far under the radar Kansas is flying. The good thing about this team, however, is that in year's past, Kansas teams are usually loaded with talent and depth but no real go-to player(s). This year, they have two. The last time they had a go-to player was Mario Chalmers, and well...
I really like this "new" Kansas team because they have a dominant big man who can score from anywhere inside the 3 point line, and then they have a senior guard who will take the biggest shots and fucking drill them. God damn I love me some Tyshawn.
It's going to be interesting. -

No, I would agree that Duke certainly got some favorable match-ups and upsets go their way along the way to winning in 2010. With that said, the Blue Devils did end up having to go through third-seeded Baylor in Houston, which was basically like playing a tournament game against Arizona in the middle of the the Dust Bowl, and absolutely dismantled a Big East-champion West Virginia squad that had clearly outwitted supposedly unstoppable John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins-led Kentucky.SportsAndLady;1097608 wrote:No it's a pretty good comparison. Anyway, I really like the chances of this Kansas team as well. And I agree that Taylor has taken his game to new heights. Similarly to Brian Zoubek in 2010, Tyshawn Taylor has transformed from a player fans seemingly loved to hate (not meaning you, Sports) and cast their shortcomings onto into perhaps the key to winning Banner No. 4 in Lawrence. Early in the year, all I heard was how Taylor was a walking turnover. Zoubek, before a monstrous mid-season game at Maryland that opened the eyes of Blue Devils fans and the rest of the nation, was pretty much viewed by many Duke followers as just a really tall dude who had been tragically born without hands. He then went on to become arguably the most integral piece of a championship puzzle that brought No. 4 to Durham.
As you said, the tournament will be very interesting -- and extremely exciting with so many capable teams vying for the ultimate prize.
