Your 2011/2012 All Big-Ten Teams
-
Laley231st Team:
G - Frazier (Penn St)
G - Taylor (Wisconsin)
F - Shurna (Northwestern)
F - Green (MSU)
F - Sullinger (OSU)
2nd Team:
G - Buford (OSU)
G - Burke (Michigan
G - Paul (Illinois)
F - Zeller (Indiana)
F - Hummel (Purdue)
3rd Team:
G - Gatens (Iowa)
G - Spencer (Nebraska)
F - Thomas (OSU)
F - Watford (Indiana)
C - Leonard (Illinois)
POY - Green (MSU)
FOY - Zeller (Indiana) (also known as Newcomer of year)
COY - Crean (Indiana)
I cannot, seriously cannot, believe I cant find a spot on the first team for Cody Zeller. I would take him over Frazier, but I think the B1G does 2/3 (either 3 guards and 2 post or 3 post and 2 guards). If they go 4/1 Zeller beats Frazier imo.
Very tough. I think Thomas deserves it as well as a few others, like Craft, Hardaway and Rodney Williams. But, the B1G has a lot of talent, and a lot of players with that talent as the reasons for their teams success...so it cant be overlooked. -
centralbucksfanPretty good. Few questionable. Izzo could get COY IMO. And still a handful of games to go that could change things.
-
Laley23
Definitely. I wouldnt argue with rplacing the entire 3rd team with any other 5 players lol.centralbucksfan;1090507 wrote:Pretty good. Few questionable. Izzo could get COY IMO. And still a handful of games to go that could change things.
I think the 1st and 2nd teams will all be there though. 1st team I think I have pretty nailed. 2nd Team I could see a few slipping to 3rd team.
And, yes. Still 2 weeks to go. But Im bored out of my mind right now waiting for this IU game to start tonight. So I made the thread lol. -
MulvaI'd take Drew Crawford over Bo Spencer, without question.
I might take Leonard over Paul as a 2nd teamer too, although that one is close. -
Laley23
I honestly dont know if they vote on total stats or B1G play stats. But if its only conference...Paul is at 18.2 ppg a game (4th) and 5.1 rpg (17th). Leonard is 12.4 (18th), 7.1 (3rd).Mulva;1090518 wrote:I'd take Drew Crawford over Bo Spencer, without question.

vball10setLooks pretty good, Laley, but I'd go with Burke as FOY over Zeller (I can't believe I just typed that )
-
bigdaddy2003I would put Thomas on the 2nd team probably but I don't follow the rest of the conference enough to know a lot about the players who are ahead of him so I could be wrong.

There's a lot of damn good players in the big 10 this year. I don't think he's consistent enough to be ahead of the guys ahead of him. But I would almost be tempted to put him above Buford. He has really struggled lately but I believe Buford is more important to Ohio st than Thomas -
Laley23
Only guy you can replace for Thomas, IMO, is Buford. I dont see it.bigdaddy2003;1090536 wrote:I would put Thomas on the 2nd team probably but I don't follow the rest of the conference enough to know a lot about the players who are ahead of him so I could be wrong. -

No, not really. Leonard is the only listed Center on my list.ccrunner609;1090578 wrote:Do we not have centers anymore?
How much basketball do you actually watch? We havent really had centers in college for years. -
Tiger2003I really don't think Buford should be 2nd Team.
I also go with Burke as FOY. -
Laley23
No, you dont. And no, they arent.ccrunner609;1090762 wrote:2 things, Sully and guys like Zellers might be listed at forwards but are centers in reality. Also if you are going to list positions in lists like this then you have the traditional G,G, F, F, C.
What is traditional about GGFFC anyway? You would need a PG, SG, SF, PF, and C. So again, no...you dont. -
daveIs Taylor having a great year? Seems like most of the games I've seen this year he hasn't been impressive.
Beilien will be COY unless they drop 2 or 3 more regular season games. -
Laley23
He has been solid. Struggled early, but is the reason for the turnaround and Wisky being 4th. He also, as usual, has a ridiculous A/T ratio.dave;1090784 wrote:Is Taylor having a great year? Seems like most of the games I've seen this year he hasn't been impressive.

Also, UofM was predicted as a top 4 team. Not sure what Beilien has done to be COY, though he has been good. -
SportsAndLadyBeilien would be my #3 selection for COY in the B1G, behind Izzo and Crean.
-
Laley23
He would be #4 for me.SportsAndLady;1090800 wrote:Beilien would be my #3 selection for COY in the B1G, behind Izzo and Crean.
1. Crean
2. Weber
3. Izzo
4. Beilien
lol -
ytownfootballLol...Weber
List looks a lot like team MVP's get a 1st or a 2nd. These always find people butthurt but they're not all that bad I guess. -
bigdaddy2003Buford just hasn't been playing great lately. That is why I would put Thomas in for him.
-
Laley23Time to see how close I was. I would probably change some things now, 2 weeks later. But we will see how close these projections were. 1/1 so far with Draymond as POY.

Laley23Ugh, they end the show with Jimmy Jackson (Rolls Royce) talking and then start the new show with Tim Doyle (roller blades) talking.
What a horrible transition. lol -

I've never seen Tim Doyle on there, but flipped back and heard him talking and wow he seems annoying. -

I stand by my analogy.Terry_Tate;1106172 wrote:I've never seen Tim Doyle on there, but flipped back and heard him talking and wow he seems annoying. -
Big GainOhio State got 4 players on the All Big Ten Team 1st, 2nd and 3rd Team, no other school got more than 2.
Craft thus far in his 2 seasons. Sixth man of the year. 3rd Team All Big Ten. First Team All Big Defensive Team twice, Defensive player of the year. First Team Academic All-American. -

I would agree with this. But everyone wants to look at MSU going into the season unranked, then doing so well. When in reality, Izzo did have talent coming back. They also seem to forget they lost their last 2 games of the season, and VERY lucky it wasn't their last 3 games. He did a nice job. But I think many went overboard on him this year to be honest.ccrunner609;1106178 wrote:Izzo did his thing but Crean had one hell of a year. Did more with less talent for sure
