so people under 40 that can't use the internet don't know anything about Joe Pa other than the Sandusky stuff? Any other restrictions? Because you are down to about 30 Americans.

And I don't appreciate being called a moron.
Fair enough, I apologize for calling you a moron. My point is that we've had numerous threads arguing the culpability of Paterno in the Sandusky case, and we've all got our opinions. The guy had done tremendous things during his tenure at PSU, and he was a living legend there (which was part of the problem), so I just feel he's due a certain amount of respect on the day of his death, that's all.

cc, I may be wrong, but aren't you contradicting yourself here?

Yes, and he sounds like an idiot.

But, to be fair Im pretty sure he means they dont know without looking it up. Then, in the same response is accusing Karen of doing so.

I am over 40 and I don't know when his last NC was nor do I care.

Don't care if this helps or not.

The westboro church will be picketing his funeral. I hope that either a former player or broke college student with nothing to lose in a lawsuit beats their asses

What is their logic? God hates ****?

Because they blame him for kids getting molested

A sad day in American sporting history, but even more so for humankind. Say what you what about Joe "Pa" Paterno, but he was a positive force in this universe and his legacy of goodwill and philanthropy has had a profound impact on more lives than could ever begin to be counted.

    Rest peacefully, Joe.

I am well under 30 and I can say without hesitation that Joe Pa's last national championship came in 1986. If that helps.

I think everything that has happened in the last 2 months in and to that program and Joe Paterno, self-inflicted or not, is absolutely tragic. My heart goes out to PSU fans everywhere and JoePa's family.

Paterno was the last link between what college football once was and what it is quickly becoming. Even if what it had once been was just a facade for the secret corruption and greed, at least that facade was there. A gigantic part of college football history went when Paterno passed and he will be missed.

What makes this geezer so great? He was a rich football coach. He donated money his employer? Who cares? I know lots of poor folks who donate. If it was some nobody who didn't tell the cops bout a child rapist, they'd be crucified, by every single person who knew. Just goes to show if you win a lot of football games you can get away with a hell of alot. People will let you off the hook for even the most despicable acts.

This old fogey tried to claim he had never heard of a man raping another male. Dude as old as himself never heard of child molestation? He worked with kids and never heard of child molestation. Interesting.

He told his superiors yet didn't follow up to see exactly what was the deal with Sandusky? Gimmie a break. As long as you're winning ball games who cares?

They this wanker to be remembered as a great leader but he took no initiative in the most important of circumstances. Pass it along and wash your hands, JoePa.

Luckily others didnt wish to bury their heads in the sand, as the great Joe Paterno chose.

Good riddance Joe. The world needs less of your kind.

In a way Joe Pa was another victim of Sandusky. Granted a victim of his own choosing but more or less killed by Sandusky. No way he dies this quickly without the depression from the scandal on top of the cancer. I'm not making excuses for him because I believe all his good works are now tarnished beyond repair and cc runner is absolutely correct, the majority of Americans (especially younger ones) will always think of Joe Paterno as the butt end of a joke.

I think he's using the same "logic" he was using on the CBB forum when he mentioned that Ohio State can't stop good teams from shooting the three AND when someone brought up the Duke game, he dismissed that because "they shot terribly".

It's easy to be "right" whenever you come up with a flimsy reason to excuse everything that doesn't agree with your "point".

Anybody see the make-shift "shrine" being built around the statue of Joe Pa? Penn Staters just don't get it do they? They continue to make the University look bad by deifying this guy. Have a tasteful burial and put the thing in the ground (pun intended)

He didn't stick it in but he allowed a monster access to stick it in more kids for another 12 yrs at least.

He was mistreated by those who should have revered him. He is Penn State and he is college football. RIP JoePa.

He was Penn State, but he most certainly was NOT college football.
