Or it will be a game, as they said on 610, where I go from "worried" to "panicked"holdingout;1049441 wrote:Illinois was 2 days ago. Osu will see them again Feb 21st. Enough about Illinois. Indiana in 2 days. Revenge will be sweet. Go Bucks!! -

Pretty much what I have said. Not many teams have "great" wins on the road. When you go to conference games, it becomes difficult. Everyone knows everyone, every coach knows every coach.(unless new).vball10set;1049396 wrote:http://www.elevenwarriors.com/2012/01/thursday-skull-session-0#more
People(OSU fans) were chalking up an easy "W" going to Ill. I am not sure they realized Ill was 14-3 coming ! Are they great? No. Are they good/pretty good? Absolutely. And on their home court, they are going to be better.
Here is the bottom line. OSU came out of the gate as world beaters drilling the likes of Duke and Florida. The expectations when through the roof even more than preseason expectations. Now after a few losses, they bottomed out, people think they suck, they are bad, have leadership issues, yadda yadda.
The reality is, they are not as good as they looked early, and not as bad as they looked at times vs IU/Ill. They are somewhere in between. Which means they are still a pretty damn good team capable of being very good at times. And still plenty of time to get better. Maybe these losses are a wakeup call. Every team goes through adversity at some point in the season. The season is going to be defined on how they deal with that adversity. I am confident Matta can right the ship. -
PrescottSome guy gets in a zone, has a career night , and OSU loses on the road by 5. What is the big deal?? Take it for what it is.It certainly isn't the end of the world for OSU basketball.
Some food for thought:
1. Paul was incredibly efficient in the game, hitting 11-of-15 (.733) field goals, 8-of-10 (.800) three-pointers and 13-of-15 (.867) from the line. With 43 points on just 15 field goal attempts, Paul is the first player in the past 16 seasons with 43+ points on 15 or fewer FGA. (available data dates back to 1996-97)
2. Paul scored Illinois' final 15 points of the game over the last 2:40, hitting 2-of-2 three-pointers and 9-of-10 free throws to outscore Ohio State 15-8 down the stretch.
3.In the first half, Paul accounted for all 10 points in a 10-0 Illini run over a span of 2:24 that turned a 23-15 deficit into a 25-23 lead.
4. Paul scored 28 points in the second half alone, more than any Illini player has scored in a full game this season.
It was an epic performance by a talented athlete.Give Paul his due and move on to to Indiana. -

No, just a young team still searching for an identity. I've maintained all along that there didn't seem to be anyone willing to step up into the leadership role, but now it appears that someone has--and I'm looking forward to seeing the Buckeyes flourish under Sully's leadership.Jester;1050784 wrote:Chemistry problems?

That's what they need. Someone to step up in close games. And the guy who's a few months away from being an early lottery pick probably's the best choice they have.vball10set;1050816 wrote:No, just a young team still searching for an identity. centralbucksfanNot sure I buy into this leadership stuff. Quite honestly, I think its a big overblown at times. Mostly by media or people trying to dig up something that might not even be there. Leadership can come in many different ways. Some guys are vocal, some are not and lead by example. You can't make someone vocal who is not that way. Its pretty obvious Buford isn't a vocal kind of guy.
If there is a leader on this team, I would say its Craft, mostly by his effort. As well as being in the position of PG.
If you recall during the Conley, Oden year, Conley stepped up about midseason and called out the team. From that point on, they rolled. I think this could be a turning point for this OSU team. They were playing loose and having fun early in the year. They seemed to have lost that a little bit. Its a long season. Plenty of time to get things rolling again. -
