There is some truth to that. I also agree if there had been more offense in the first game that some people would be more willing to watch the rematch.

Okie State's resume is no less impressive than Florida's was that year, and Michigan's was no less impressive than Alabama's this year. Who's to say, knowing the results of that year, that Okie State wouldn't beat LSU and Stanford wouldn't beat Alabama?

Actually, I'm confident Stanford WOULD beat Bama.

not so sure about this, but my confidence level's pretty high that OkSt could beat LSU

    Very good point.

For me, I'll probably take the "wait-n-see" route where I flip over from time to time, but don't actually watch any of it unless it looks like it'll be a much better game than the 9-6 "barnburner". That was the sort of game that's agony to watch unless you're a big fan of one of the two teams and have an interest in who wins.

If you're not a fan of either team, you just want a fun, entertaining game. The first meeting didn't come close to being either. Hopefully, tonight's is better.

Jerry Sandusky is pissed. He wants little boy football.

Friend posted this on facebook and I completely agree.

    "
[h=6]Unlike lots of other people out there, I am actually excited to see this game tonight. I'm indifferent in who wins..I am more or less interested simply because everyone is crying about the so called "SEC show". I'm sorry but where is it written that the best two teams in the nation cant come from the same conference? and let me end all the arrogant OSU fans that will quickly say "ZOOOMG ohio state and michigan should have rematched and they didnt...so LSU BAMA shouldnt either. wrong. LSU and Alabama played eachother nearly 4 months ago and had games inbetween that solidified the fact that they would brutally rape any other team in the NCAA.[/h]"

    Absolutely clueless. Really clueless. ROGL

lhslep, good post from your friend. The only thing.........4 months??? Only 2 months between. But, at least there was games in between
  • GOONx19
What "clues" do you have that say otherwise?

ROGL? You seriously don't think that Ok St could beat LSU? If you don't, then you're not only clueless, but delusional as well. If you want to be taken seriously as a poster on this board, don't be so obtuse. LSU is a helluva football team, but as you'll see after tonight's game, they are not unbeatable.

    'Bama 14 LSU 10

Anyone can beat anyone on any given night vball, but your post you made makes it look like you would take OSU over LSU. Basically you are trying to play it safe in putting "could" so people can see it two different way.

Bama has #1 defense and a great secondary (many NFL prospects). THey would have Luck running for his life. Bama is WAY more talented. Stanford could not stop Bama's run game. Seriously, too easy to prove why.

I think Bama wins and then the bitching starts about how LSU got screwed by having to play them. This system seems to fail every year.

If only a couple dozen people on a minor league Ohio message board wouldn't watch! That will get the message across!!

The difference in OSU/UM and LSU/BAMA is the timing. Had OSU beat Michigan in week 8 and then UM got back up to #2 in every major poll and ranking by the end, there WOULD have been a great chance at a rematch. However, a recent loss, whether fair or not, penalizes the team more who was a victim of that loss.

Comparing the losses might show they were equal. Everything might be equal. However, the team who lost more recently will usually be lower in the polls and rankings. That's why UM and OSU did not rematch, not because it wasn't deserved.

Of course, it doesn't help that UM went out and got crushed in the Rose Bowl that year...and OSU got blasted in the title game. If anything, THAT is more HINDSIGHT to why the rematch should have never happened. You could argue neither was worthy of the title game...if we're using hindsight.

CGW, if Bama wins, are you going to consider them the national champion?

Has anyone ever seen cats gone wild base an argument around something that can be tested? Every time I read one of his posts I feel like I'm at a comic book convention listening to somebody rant about how Spiderman would get destroyed by Wolverine.

cats, I said could in my original post, so I don't know why you'd take it any other way. Also, since they aren't playing each other, there's no sense in saying anything other than could, right?

YES!!! LSU will say "we beat them and they beat us, so let's split the 'ship"-- mark it down!!!

^^ Thats what Im saying. All SEC fans are cool with this now, but if Bama happens to beat LSU (which I dont think they will, but could), I'm ready for all hell to break loose lol.
  • cats gone wild
If they win the title game, then Bama's champs. Period. That's why its the title game. Would it mean its fair?Theres ways to say it is and isnt, but this is the title game..........winner takes all.

Yeah but it's easy to prove! Just like it was easy to prove why Georgetown would kick the coon dog shit out of Villanova in '85.

I forget which thread it was, but I spent 2-3 days going back and forth with him showing facts to disprove his/prove my points. He didn't like it too much.

cats gone wild;1045128 wrote:I can understand people not wanting Bama in, but there wasnt a team better with one loss. LSU obviously proved they deserve to be there by beating 3 of the top 5 teams, beating two BCS winners, beating 8 ranked teams (could end up 9 which would break the record by 2 for a championship team). Dont know why people act like these teams dont have offense when they average like 80 points combined a game. Who cares if they both had one bad offensive performance against the best defenses in the country. I dont remember hearing buckeye fans discounting your own 2002 champions for scoring 15 or less points FOUR times against weaker opponents that season or for scoring 25 or less SEVEN times in that season. But, you guys will continue to brag up that team who had a defense similar to LSU's but alot worse offense.
A lot worse offense? I don't recall them ever going an entire first half without a first down! Pitiful! They also had a better QB and RB than this LSU team. I'll give you LSU defense. But not by much. Hell, Jefferson can't even field a snap!!

And this statement I'll disagree with till the day I die. On any give day anything can happen, and did.
