Orange Bowl: WVU v. Clemson

But seriously, 8 teams have more BCS wins than the ACC and 7 teams have the same amount. That's ridiculous.

Worst BCS Bowl ever was Hawaii/Georgia in the Sugar Bowl

Is it me or does the BCS suck. This is the f***in Orange Bowl! Only right behind the Rose and Sugar and it's #15 vs #23:huh: Really though the fact we've got 4 teams outside of the Top 10 is embarassing playing in these games

The Cotton Bowl this year should be considered a BCS Bowl.

Last nights game proved 3 things:

1.) The ACC sucks. Winning the ACC should not be an automatic bid to a bowl game. They continually get embarrassed.

2.) The ACC fans do not travel very well. tOSU, UM, Penn St, ND, USC, Oregon, etc. all travel well. ACC doesnt. Less tickets sold!

3.) Enough of this automatic bid sh!t. #1 &#2 play for the NC game, #3 & #4 should be playing in a BCS, 5&6 and so on. There are 5 BCS bowls. How in the hell do the top 10 not play in the top games...oh wait, this is the NCAA we are talking about! There should never be a 7+ ranking difference in two teams playing each other in the BCS. Enough of the NCAA on its knees blowing people from each conference so they dont feel "left out". Lose 2 games and you should feel "left out"!

Its time for playoffs already. Sprinkle in the big sponsors so they dont lose the money they gain from the BCS.

And lets get some big post season college games up here in the cold weather too. Our teams play in it half the year, why cant the sissies in the south come north! There are many great northern cities that could use the economic shot in the arm that a bowl game brings. It shouldnt be limited to the south and south west regions.

I will get off my soap box now. Glad I got that off my chest!

Clemson, c'mon man! I love watching the BCS look like crap. Can't wait for a playoff when it comes. Until then, do away with the BCS and just have an SEC playoff tourney take it's place. We know the SEC would be in the championship anyway.

LOL @ Clemson. I wasn't really surprised they had it coming down their legs last night. It's what they do

Those are the BCS results by Big East teams other than West Virginia since Miami and VT left the conference. Current Big East teams not nicknamed the Mountaineers are 1-5 overall in the BCS with some really ugly losses (the 5th was Syracuse losing by 21 way back in 1998).

WVU has been very good (3-0), but 1 program does not a not-terrible conference make.

The ACC is equally horrible at the top, but has more depth overall in my opinion. Either way, auto bids are a joke and so is the at-large selection process.

If you don't include WVU then can we include boise?? ;)

WVU lost two conference games this year too. Barely won 3 others. The Big east is deeper than the ACC.

WVU now averages 52 points of offense in BCS bowls.

This was one of the few bowl games of which I had ZERO interest in, and for that reason, I didn't watch a minute of it....and it looks like I made a good decision.

It was honestly entertaining for about 1 full quarter, 2nd half of the 2nd quarter, and first half of the 3rd.

Yeah. The last half of the second quarter was just insane. West Virginia was scoring in every way possible and Clemson immediately got this shell-shocked look and was fucking up in every way possible.

That's because WVU is inconsistent. I didn't include them because I think they're a very good program. They're the 1 thing that's not like the other things.

The rest of the conference is made up of bad football programs that have had occasional good years (UConn, Cinci, Louisville) but haven't been able to put together enough sustained success (on the field or in terms of recruiting) to be able to compete against the top teams from other conferences, and it's shown in BCS results.

West Virginia slipped a little bit under Bill Stewart, but since RichRod built them up they've had pretty consistent success and they've built up a talent level that allows them to play with the big boys.

That said, there's no excuse for Clemson to lose that badly to any team. Total embarrassment for them. I'll agree to disagree that the Big East is deeper.

Where is all this depth in the ACC you speak of? Other than VT and Clemson last night, the only other team to get to the BCS since 2006 was Wake Forest, who got beat by Louisville (Big East). Miami only went to the BCS during their time in the Big East and Florida State has not been to the BCS since 2004. Therefore, it appears the ACC is made up of one team (VT-- a former Big East team) and as you state one program does not a not-terrible conference make.

You want to know why you think the ACC has so much depth? It is beause ESPN tells you so. We always hear how good Clemson is and this year (and every other year) is supposed to be the magical year when FSU and Miami return to past glory. The fact is head to head the Big East has been very good against the ACC. This year the Big East beat the ACC head to head.

    ACC BCS History
    Clemson (0-1)
    Florida State (1–5)*
    Virginia Tech (1–4)
    Maryland (0–1)
    Wake Forest (0–1)
    Georgia Tech (0-1)

*their one BCS win was over Virginia Tech when they were in the Big East.

Where are all these great teams in the ACC you speak of?

Trying to pimp the ACC or the Big East on anyone is an exercize in futility, give it up.

Yes. It's like a "CONGRATS! You're better than the MAC and Sun Belt!!" award. Where no one bigger than mid-majors care because you're nothing more than glorified mid-majors.

I would have included Arkansas but they are not eligible according to the "BSC rules".

I said the ACC was equally terrible at the top. The top being the teams that make BCS games. Neither conference had a legitimate BCS worthy team this year. And I didn't say it has "so much depth", I said it has more depth than the Big East. Which is like saying a 4 foot pool has more depth than a kiddie pool. If you think either is deep enough to dive into you're an idiot.

I think there were at least 5 teams in the ACC better than the #3 team in the Big East (Louisville or Rutgers). Clemson, Va Tech, and FSU for sure. Then I would say Georgia Tech and at least one of Virginia/NC State/UNC. UNC beat Louisville and Rutgers head to head, and NC State beat Louisville in the bowl game.

When only 5/8 teams in your conference are bowl eligible, and 2 of those 5 finish with at least 6 losses, you aren't very deep. They both suck at the top, the ACC is much stronger in the middle, and the Big East is better at the bottom.

Also, I pretty much drive the "FSU and Miami still suck" bandwagon. I'm the one who points out how overrated they are and picks them both to lose 5 games again every year.

USC travels well? They don't even sell out their own stadium.

That's because most SEC players just have to get their GED.
