PAC12/B1G challenge?
-
karen lotz@PeteThamelNYT: BREAKING: Pac-12 and Big Ten enter scheduling agreement. All 12 teams play an inter-league football game starting 2017.
-
FatHobbitsweet. I like seeing the big boys play!
-
ytownfootballMeh...not all that interesting to me honestly
-
sleeperWould like to see B1G/SEC. Although I'd imagine outside of LSU/Bama, the B1G would dominate.
-
ytownfootballOhio State already does this to a degree, (USC, Cal, Washington) don't get credit for it anyway, who gives a shit if Arizona is going to play Purdue?

this scenario intrigues me as well :thumbup:sleeper;1028973 wrote:Would like to see B1G/SEC... -
ts1227The way they're talking about this in the article on ESPN is a way to get the benefits of conference expansion without all of the headaches, and strengthening some of the small rivalries that do exist from Rose Bowl past in terms of football.
-
gorocks99If they set it up based on record (overall) from the year before, here would roughly be next year's matchups:
Oregon vs Wisconsin
Stanford vs Michigan State
USC vs Michigan
Washington vs Penn State
Cal vs Nebraska
Utah vs Iowa
UCLA vs Purdue
Arizona State vs Ohio State
Arizona vs Northwestern
Washington State vs Illinois
Oregon State vs Minnesota
Colorado vs Indiana -

So it's in football, basketball and olympic sports? Interesting. I still like it. -

This could be read "another game that Boise, TCU et al won't be able to schedule" I just don't see the advantage whatsoever, for anyone. Rose Bowl rivalries? Seriously, it's not like there have been a ton of representative from either conference.ts1227;1029018 wrote:The way they're talking about this in the article on ESPN is a way to get the benefits of conference expansion without all of the headaches, and strengthening some of the small rivalries that do exist from Rose Bowl past in terms of football. -
queencitybuckeyeI've never understood the idea of rooting for (or against) teams that happen to belong to your team's conference. I pull for four B1G teams due to personal connections, and couldn't care less about how the other eight fare.

I'd rather watch sucky B1G teams play sucky Pac 12 teams that watch them beat up on crappy second tier teams.ytownfootball;1029031 wrote:This could be read "another game that Boise, TCU et al won't be able to schedule" I just don't see the advantage whatsoever, for anyone. Plans include a preseason game at the Rose Bowl, possibly as soon as 2013 or 2014, involving schools from each conference.Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany also said he would be interested in a neutral-site game in the Midwest.
"Who knows," Delany said. "You could have the Rose Bowl one year and Soldier Field the next."
Yankee Stadium and Wrigley Field are other possibilities. -

wildcats20Here's an idea...have the game at a FUCKING BIG TEN STADIUM.
-
LJDoing something like OSU vs USC or Michigan vs USC at Soldier Field or something would be cool.
Oh yeah, have to agree with the
NYC?! WTF?! -
ytownfootball
Yeah, Jesus H...such a fucking clusterfuck of an idea, let's play the game where literally no one gives a fuck.Heretic;1029089 wrote:Yankee Stadium? FUCK THAT. Because nothing says west coast vs. midwest like motherfucking New York City... -
LJNow we know why OSU was dropping future games
-
Pick6I like it.

Terry_TateReally wish it were Big Ten vs. SEC, but I think with the bowl matchups those 2 have those would have to be adjusted for it to happen. Plus, obviously this deal was done with revenue in mind, especially for their networks, which wouldn't really be there with the SEC. Overall I really like the idea though. I just hope Ohio State continues to schedule big time programs and doesn't let it just be USC or Oregon every year plus 2 Ohio MAC schools plus Garbage U from the Big East or ACC.

It'll be interesting to see how it works out. Smith has already said there's no plans for OSU to play 2 big non-conference games. So the Oklahoma years, will likely include a lesser Pac-12 team.Terry_Tate;1029259 wrote:Really wish it were Big Ten vs. SEC, but I think with the bowl matchups those 2 have those would have to be adjusted for it to happen. SonofanumpI think the following might be annual matchups:
Colorado vs Nebraska
Stanford vs Northwestern
UCLA vs Indiana
I can not think of any other natural matchups. -

Its going to be a full round robin. -
SonofanumpNot sure how I feel about that.
