Agreed. Alabama loves the outcome. They didn't have to do anything and they got a free pass into the NCG.

like # 1 ohio state vs #2 florida?

No I'm not using head to head as the only argument. MSU won their division.

It doesn't make sense unless you look at money, Michigan is a better draw than Michigan State. Michigan also got lucky and is playing a team (Virginia Tech) that they could beat. You could make a strong arguement that the ACC did not deserve 2 teams in the BCS. I don't know how VT, and Michigan got in and Boise State did not. You could make a case for K-State or TCU also, but every year some questionable teams get in while seemingly more deserving teams go to lesser Bowls. Houston I don't feel sorry for, they only had to win against Southern Miss. (who for some unknown reason think because they beat a fraudulant Houston team deserved a BCS bid) to get in (and get spanked) I believe that Boise got the biggest snub, they could play with anyone in the country (beat VT and Georgia) I know they lost to TCU (not a bad loss) but everyone else (but LSU also lost), most to lesser opponents than TCU.
The B1G goes 6-4 in their Bowl games winners-Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State, Penn State, Purdue, and Illinois
    Losers-Wisconsin, Nebraska, Northwestern, and Iowa

Being one of the programs to play in Jacksonville > being in the secondary bowl in Orlando.

The system = horseshit. Neither Michigan or Virginia Tech are good enough to be in BCS bowl games.
So if a team is say, #5 in the poll, but doesn't play it's conference championship, it should automatically be disqualified?

So winning your DIVISION now means you deserve BCS?

Do you think Georgia should have a BCS spot, but not Alabama or Arkansas.

Too many blanket and general statements made on this board.

Sorry. I meant to put Michigan but had Va Tech on the brain [since that's who Michigan is playing].

Okay Ditka. Happens every year, but let's not talk about it.

No matter how you try and spin it, tsun SHOULD NOT be in a BCS bowl. They, similar to OSU in '07, are in because of the $$$ they'll generate by being there--period.

Bowl games are and have always been glorified exhibitions. There's no reason to make the selection about anything other than money. When you are putting up $17 mil (or whatever), you damn sure are going to try and put together the best possible return on the investment.

I agree, and I should have said that they DO NOT DESERVE to be there, not should not.

OSU didn't deserve to be in the National title game in 07??? I'm sure you meant to put a different year there.

I meant for the '07 season (which was actually played on 1/7/08) vs. LSU

No Webfire all I said is MSU should be in over Michigan. Boise St, Arkansas, South Carolina and Kansas St should be in a BCS Bowl over Michigan and MSU. What the hell do we have rankings for? I really don't believe the 13th ranked team in the BCS should be in a BCS game when they didnt even win their Division or Conf and when teams ranked above them were left out.

Then what you want is the top 10 go to BCS bowl games, end of story. I don't necessarily disagree.

But back to your argument considering the way it is. Arkansas did not play for their conference title and finished with the same record as Michigan. So really you just don't want Michigan in.

Webbie, I don't know if you necessarily want to use Arkansas as an example, since their two losses were to #1 LSU and #2 Alabama, whereas tsun's were to #17 MSU and unranked Iowa.

Oh, you mean we factor in losses now? That's my point. You can't use his reasoning, which is Michigan did not play for the conference championship. Michigan is not the only one.
