Fab1bvery very interesting

jordo212000Wowww. That would be a great get if Akron could get Tress. Not sure they can pull it off though. I'd imagine that he could get more attractive offers than this though, right?

I feel like Tress isn't the type of guy who would take an "attractive" job...more like the kind of guy whose gonna do what he wantsjordo212000;992770 wrote:Wowww. vball10setIt'd be cool to see him in the Glass Bowl when they come in to play Toledo.

Doing what he wants is one thing. Coaching at Akron is another.SportsAndLady;992774 wrote:I feel like Tress isn't the type of guy who would take an "attractive" job...more like the kind of guy whose gonna do what he wants -
wkfanMy guess is that Akron and any other program will stay away from Tress. If they show interest, Tress will be labeled with a Show-Cause ban, IMO.
-
Fab1bI am glad OSU moved on with UM however I still think we may have let Tress go and didn't actually have too, anyone else feel that still?
-
Fab1b
Also wondering that too what type of penalties will be attached to him. 5 game suspension as well?wkfan;992785 wrote:My guess is that Akron and any other program will stay away from Tress. If they show interest, Tress will be labeled with a Show-Cause ban, IMO. -

Seems like Meyer wasn't too worried about potential violations yesterday in the presser...Fab1b;992786 wrote:I am glad OSU moved on with UM however I still think we may have let Tress go and didn't actually have too, anyone else feel that still? -

Akron is willing to take on any penalties that would come along with hiring Tressel. I said in the other thread it appears he is willing to listen, and I was basically called an idiot.wkfan;992785 wrote:My guess is that Akron and any other program will stay away from Tress. queencitybuckeyeWill he be free to coach, or will there be penalties for him as well as tOSU?

Fab1b
Agree I don't think UM takes the job with any knowledge of any type of post season ban beyond this season. Now does the NCAA not punish as harsh because Tress is gone, that was my thought as well.jordo212000;992789 wrote:Seems like Meyer wasn't too worried about potential violations yesterday in the presser... -

Not at all, almost like he/they already know what's coming down, which woudn't surprise me at all.jordo212000;992789 wrote:Seems like Meyer wasn't too worried about potential violations yesterday in the presser... -

No. He lied to the NCAA. It's like gambling on baseball while playing....ala Pete Rose.Fab1b;992786 wrote:I am glad OSU moved on with UM however I still think we may have let Tress go and didn't actually have too, anyone else feel that still?
He had to go..... -
Fab1bBut the entire SEC lies to the NCAA so what
-
jordo212000
I mostly agree with this. On the surface, what the players did were violations and they should have been reported. They weren't major violations. What Tress did was the major violation. Lying to the NCAA and trying to cover stuff up is a major offense. For that, he had to go.wkfan;992797 wrote:No. He lied to the NCAA. It's like gambling on baseball while playing....ala Pete Rose.

Fab1bMy concern for JT in Akron also centers around the fact that the MAC plays offense. How will JT coach in the MAC?

We're talking Akron. Arguably the worst 1-A (can't remember if that's the FBS or FCS) program out there at the current time. I'd think if they had the chance to get a coach with Tressel's resume, they'd absorb any short-term punishments with a smile. It's not like they're looking at bowl bids in the short term. Have Tressel make his staff and have one of those be the interim guy for any show-cause ban that may arise. When you're a bad program in a bad conference and you have the opportunity to get a big-name coach, you about have to take it just out of the hope he can make your program a non-BCS name team. Like at least a Houston or Hawai'i (who might not be "every year" powers, but who seem to be good reasonably often), if not a Boise State.wkfan;992785 wrote:My guess is that Akron and any other program will stay away from Tress. exactly. Him at Akron would instantly put seats in the stand, virtually clean up all the leftovers he wants from the Big 10 teams, and win. There is already decent talent at Akron, they just need a coach.Heretic;992826 wrote:We're talking Akron. Yes. Maybe the NCAA would have busted our asses, but I would have been willing to take that to keep Tress.Fab1b;992786 wrote:I am glad OSU moved on with UM however I still think we may have let Tress go and didn't actually have too, anyone else feel that still? -
