From a lot of things I read(rumors so far) it doesn't sound like distance from home was what he was looking for more what his parents wanted.

It also doesn't sound like winning bowl games are things that are important to him /sleepered

Also, people are going to say what they want about Kelly. I argued it some earlier in the season but now I don't really give a shit. Saban has been caught on camera screaming his head off and swearing at players and he's probably the best Head Coach in college football right now. I may have concerns about Brian Kelly and his coaching decisions, but yelling and screaming at the QB isn't one of them.

Also, I don't think Crist's departure had anything to do with Kelly's yelling. His leaving for Kansas made sense for a lot of reasons.

Yeah, the rumor from one lsu recruiting guy said his mom made him flip because she was so emotional when he was leaving to go south. No quotes from anyone, just him speculating. And if his mom did want him to go to ND that's fine with me. Worked out pretty well so far with Aaron Lynch.

Give me a fucking break. I maintained all along that I felt he'd be a domer, mainly because of his lineage, his Midwestern upbringing and values, and the proximity of SB to his hometown. However, if this was the reason? I think I'm gonna' puke.

    My thoughts:
he saw how mediocre he was when playing with the big boys at the AA game. Decided it was safer to disappoint for 4 years at UND than to be cut as a junior at LSU.

I don't mean that as an insult to any school but it does sound like a dick thing to say when I read it.

Again, that is coming from one lsu recruiting guy with no quotes from anyone involved. Pure speculation and its basically cgw with a larger platform.

If so, that means he doesn't really want to be at ND. Cool.

I can't imagine any big time school wanting Kiel at this point. What a pussy.

Urban tried contacting him today and Gunner told him no thanks. Hope this helps.

Yeah, reason #108327 why you don't know anything about football.

    Gunner Kiel
    247 - * * * * * #1 QB, #13 overall
    Rivals - * * * * * #1 QB, #18 overall
    ESPN - * * * * #2 QB, #20 overall
    Scout - * * * * * #1 QB

Every coach in America who doesn't run either the triple option or some spread option would murder their wife (or the film guy, /sleeper'd) for this kid.

    Link?
  • karen lotz
I'll try to find it, was a quote from Gunner himself behind a pay wall this morning. I didn't post it earlier because there really was no point in it because nothing came of it. Then 2kool chimed in and it seemed appropriate.
  • karen lotz
couldn't find it. was an update from Steve Wiltfong though who was the closest to Kiel and his family throughout the entire process.

That link has nothing to do with Kiel, but I will comment. Michigan fans had heard that the coaches cooled on Wright because of character issues, and to be honest I was skeptical. But it seems that was the truth. This guy just sounds like trouble. ND can have him.

...that was sort of a joke (that it had nothing to do with Kiel).

He sounds like the average 17-year old HS superstar-jock. I'm not a fan of that. It is worth noting that his tweets have always been set to private, and weren't ever meant to leak. Yes, we know that shit (leaking to the public) happens all of the time and they were dumbass decisions.

There is considerable talk that Notre Dame will load up with elite guys and not have room for him. I like him a lot as a player, so we'll see. If he did commit, rest assured Kelly and Co, and a slew of the priests at Notre Dame will let him know that that is not how a Notre Dame player carries himself. I guess only the future will tell, much like with Michael Floyd.

At least he didn't call anyone a f*ggot though. ;)

From the sounds of it, his tweets are a good representation of who he is. I don't know if that kind of tweeting is normal behavior for a 17 year old, or else they'd all do it.

That's an interesting link that backs up what a Buckeye insider said last week.

As soon as Urban was hired, 247 did an article on recruit reactions. Wright was very interested in OSU and wanted to be contacted by Meyer. Despite OSU offering numerous CBs recently, Wright never was pursued. It was a big topic of discussion until a reliable poster said it was because the staff thought Wright had character issues. I just assumed it was just sour grapes and that Wright had moved on but the quoted link makes it likely Urban was just not interested.

I'm skeptical of Wright after reading those tweets.

They remind me of Major Wright's tweets a couple years back at Florida....
