Ohio State news

Ohio State needs to play in a bowl game. Not doing so is an arrogant display that would be looked down upon any place outside of South Bend. Play the bowl game, win it, then go home and cry that you had a mediocre season(or a great season if you are Notre Dame).

he was on one fucking knee

I understand he was hurt, then get his ass out of there he became a liability at that point and some plays cost us there. Poor coaching on the D side this game all around.

This. And Shazier might even be ahead of Sweat. Probably not, but it's closer than the other way.

There are only so many players that travel and the other 2 linebackers there were a sr walk on and a freshman with 0 playing time. A hurt Shazier was probably the best option. If you paid attention to the presser, the first thing Fickell told Urban was "we need depth at Linebacker"

He had a bum knee and he's a freshman. What more did you want from him?
  • Fab1b
I didn't get to see the presser was working but we all know we need depth at LB. I understand who travels etc...however if he is continually being beat give someone who is healthy a shot, shake things up. I just thought the D adjustments got worse after half.

    Fixed.

My point Jhay78, get someone out there with two legs :)

So, I've still not seen any information on Stoneburner actually being injured.

Great if true! Those are the 3 guys I thought would fit in with an Urban Meyer staff.

Was reading around on another board and heard Urban is planning on moving one of the tailbacks to WR and use him like Harvin? Would that be Jamaal Berry?
    Jordan hall maybe?

Ohio State technically finished 8th in the conference. The 8th team goes to Detriot, correct?

During the pregame last sat they talked about bowls beyond a certain point can go up or down 1 or 2 spots or something crazy like that, which is how the Gator Bowl would get OSU?

I dunno, I only caught part of it and it didn't sound like they fully understood either

I'll agree that Sweat was good during the season, but to say Shazier would not be a loss at all is just silly. Assuming Sweat is back and Shazier would be healthy, I wouldn't be surprised for OSU to try and get both on the field. Shazier has proven he is a playmaker when healthy. He also has a ton of potential for a true freshman.
You can disagree all you want. Stats and game scores tell otherwise. Shazier is a BIG TALENT. He will be a stud. But at 210, he had trouble getting off blocks. Yes he made some plays. But many were down field. Sweat was a pretty darn good LB. What, 2nd team all big ten? A senior. Again, Shazier will be VERY good. But he needs to add strength and some weight yet. I believe Sweat was what held the defense together.... somewhat. When he went out, look at the past 3 games? Not good.

Good thing, I saw him at basketball game last nite and he wasn't in his sling. So I would expect him back for a bowl game, if there is one.

I don't understand why Sweat wasn't moved to Mike and leave Shazier and Sabino on the outside

Shazier will continue to get bigger and stronger...

He was also playing on one leg as others have said during the scUM game

Maybe because he wasn't as good as those in front of him? Thus the reason he didn't get on the field until there was an injury. ;)

    Hear me out.

I think Sweat would have made a much better MLB than Klein. That leaves you with Shazier on the outside.

I understand what you are saying. I just watched Shazier pretty close. Yes, he made great plays, that made highlights. But the highlights don't show all the times he couldn't get off blocks or fill the hole at the line. The last 3 games, that was what was missing with Sweat. OSU was sliced and diced. Purdue, PSU and UM ran down their throats. Like I hadn't seen in a LONG time. It wasn't just him, I know. But the OSU defense missed Sweat quite a bit more than many realize.
