Gene Smith & Doug Archie

SpeedofsandI read last night that Meyer wanted Smith out and Gee said they will have to get along. Why have Smith and Archie not been fired ? Is it just because of waiting on the final penalties from the NCAA? What about the failure to monitor sanctions Meyer was said to be waiting to know about?

sleeperThey both need to be fired.

centralbucksfanRidiculous to think that Meyer or any coach would bring this up. I am not Smith support, nor do I think he had anything to do with what went on. The buck stops where it should have, Tressel. It was his program. Smith trusted him to do what he SHOULD have been doing. Maybe to a fault. But didn't we buy into Tressel as well?

Agreed ( don't think I will ever say that again) -
SpeedofsandEven if Meyer didn't say it, aren't Smith's days numbered? What about the 'failure to monitor'? This stuff at tOSU went on for years, on Smith & Archie's watch. I can't understand why they are still Buckeyes.

derek bomarthey're still Buckeyes because if you fire them before NCAA sanctions come, you've admitted to the NCAA that you lost institutional control. Once the sanctions come, they're gone.
