SEC Bowl Projections

It would be nice to see someone do this for every conference as bowl season is approaching. Teams will start accepting bids this week, and some already have. Anyway, here goes.

BCS National Championship (BCS #1 vs #2) - Louisiana State vs Alabama
BCS National Championship (BCS #1 vs #2) - Alabama vs Louisiana State
Capital One Bowl (SEC #2 vs Big Ten #2) - Georgia vs Michigan State
Cotton Bowl (SEC #3/4 vs Big XII #2) - Arkansas vs Kansas State
Outback Bowl (SEC #3/4 vs B1G #3) - South Carolina vs Penn State
Chick-Fil-A Bowl (SEC #5 vs ACC #2) - Auburn vs Clemson
Gator Bowl (SEC #6 vs B1G #4/5) - Florida vs Iowa
Music City Bowl (SEC #7 vs ACC #6) - Vanderbilt vs Virginia
Liberty Bowl (SEC #8 vs C-USA #1) - Mississippi State vs Southern Mississippi

Just my predictions. Some intriguing match-ups. LSU/Bama re-match. Auburn-Clemson re-match. Vanderbilt playing at home in Nashville. Southern Mississippi getting a shot at an in-state heavyweight. I do suppose the Cotton Bowl could pick Oklahoma (9-3 with a loss to OSU) over Kansas State (10-2 with a win over Iowa State), and the Gator Bowl could opt for Ohio State (a game behind Iowa in the standings, especially if Urban Meyer is named the next coach) against Florida in the Gator Bowl as well. The Music City Bowl may end up with North Carolina State over Virginia too. The other games, barring upsets, are pretty much locks for the opponents (IMO) and unless the Capital One Bowl opts for Steve Spurrier over UGA (which would appease the Outback Bowl as UGA has a big following in Jacksonville), this is what we are going to get.

    Thoughts?

You forgot Nebraska in the SEC/Big Ten matchups. I would think any of those bowls would be drooling at the thought of taking the Huskers. The Big Ten has a rule (at least I think they still have it) that you can pick a team with one more loss in the standings, but not more than that, which is the only reason Michigan State (7-1) would go to the Capital One Bowl over Nebraska (5-3), which is why I have them in the Outback Bowl.
