UNLV upsets #1 North Carolina 90-80

Hats off to UNLV they came out and played and UNC did not. No excuses they showed up and Heels did not. I do agree that P.J. Reggie and JMAC need to be in more. P.J. was hot all night and Roy kept taking him out. Should be interesting to see how thy rebound against Wisky but kentucky scares me. Heels will probably stay in the top 5 but they way they played last night barely deserve it.

    No doubt.

UNLV returned 4 of 5 starters from last years 24 win team. They're 7-0 so far this year. They were essentially playing a home game and seemingly couldn't miss last night. Whenever UNC would start to pull closer UNLV would hit consecutive 3-pointers to extend the lead again. UNLV's ability to shoot the lights out and run the floor were a disaster matchup in the making for UNC, and UNC's inability to hit anything in the 2nd half killed them.

Yes, I definitely overreacted because I was upset with last night's effort, but I think every one of the concerns that were mentioned are valid. When you see the same problems repeatedly, and they are never really addressed, it's alarming. Carolina has the talent to win a national championship, but if they don't start stopping dribble penetration and defend the perimeter, it's not going to happen. It's time for them to play tough, play with an attitude, and bury teams like this. UNLV played a great game, but Carolina never matched their intensity and just stopped executing the moment they were faced with adversity.

No doubt the concerns are valid. But until it happens multiple times, particularly after around Valentines Day (ie, not in November) it is overreacting.

UNC might not be ranked in the top 2, but it will still probably be the 2 best teams in basketball this year. This game is just as big, still. You might save $10 off a ticket though compared to what they were going for.:D

Kendall Marshall might be a great passer, but he is a below-average athlete and a terrible offensive player when you make him keep the ball.

Also, he has been abused all night by UNLV's guards. I know he's a Freshman but the way Marquis Teague has played the last 2 days, and the way Jordan Taylor has played for the last 2 years, Marshall is going to have his hands full in the upcoming week.

Also, there is something missing with Harrison Barnes. He has disappeared in this game for the most part. He's a very good player, but he's nowhere near the NPOY, or at least has he even attempted to play the part in this tournament.
This is why I've never thought Marshall was a top 5 PG in college basketball. He's only good at one facet of the game. He can't shoot and he can't defend.
