Worst drive ever???

dwccrewWas the playcalling on that final drive Ohio State had the worst ever? In my lifetime I have never seen anything worse than that. Name the worst you've ever seen. My vote, OSU's final drive in the 2011 OSU-UM game.

wwhayesWhat more would one expect of Bollman ? If I was Gene Smith , I would of been waiting for him outside of the press box and gave him the pink slip and a bus ticket back to C-BUS to clear out his office.........but then again , Mr. Meyer will take care of that here soon.

cat_loverThe final drive was terrible but up to that point they had done a decent job on the play calling.

krambmanPlay calling was actually pretty great all day. As far as that final drive goes, it's hard to tell who was responsible for the spike on third down (Braxton says the coaches told him to clock it, Fickell said it was Braxton's decision). As far as all of the deep passes go it's also hard to tell how many of those were the primary call and how many of those were Braxton's decision to throw deep instead of throwing to an underneath receiver. at times today he looked like a guy playing back yard football who refuses to throw short passes and always launches it as far as he can to show off.

If Miller makes the throw to a wide open Posey the Bucks go up 1 and then its great play calling. Of course there would have been about 1:45 left and plenty of time for the defense to screw it up anyway.dwccrew;988299 wrote:Was the playcalling on that final drive Ohio State had the worst ever? Big GainWhat more do you expect from an assistant defensive coach?

This. I think that may have been the best play calling all year. Miller had three different times through the game where he had a wide open reciever that he overthrew. Now this is to be expected of a true freshman QB especially since OSU rarely passed all year. If Miller hits Posey on that bomb we very well be talking about what a masterful game they called.Skyhook79;988346 wrote:If Miller makes the throw to a wide open Posey the Bucks go up 1 and then its great play calling. You guys are missing the point. I agree with you that all day, the playcalling for the most part was good. And I agree that IF Miller connects to Posey, we aren't discussing this. But he didn't connect with Posey and what happened was a debacle after that.Scarlet_Fever;988355 wrote:This. I think that may have been the best play calling all year. You can do something right all day and then screw it up with one bad decision, OSU's staff made several bad decisions on this final drive. I am not debating whether all day the playcalling was good, just the last drive. It was pathetic. -

IMO there were 2 bad decisions on the last drive. Calling Timeout with 1:48 left and the spike. -

Even in high school we had a scripted 6 play 2 minute drill. We practiced it every week. Just another one of those "little things" that a defensive assistant coach isn't up to.Skyhook79;988451 wrote:IMO there were 2 bad decisions on the last drive. Calling Timeout with 1:48 left and the spike. -

Since when was throwing on first down predictable for this offense? It wasn't the offense that cost OSU this game at all. If you score 34 points in a game there's no fault on the offense for losing. It was the porous defense that lost the game.ccrunner609;988496 wrote:its not the final drive that lost that game........its the 10 other ones that were predictable. -

I agree, krambman, and as bad as some think the play calling on the last drive was, the play calling on the second to last drive was a thing of beauty. Posey was open, and Miller didn't hit it. Period.krambman;988546 wrote:Since when was throwing on first down predictable for this offense? It wasn't the offense that cost OSU this game at all. btw, does anyone have a link to Fickell discussing the baffling clocking of the ball by Miller?
