That projection has UC as #3. Also, the Big East will be won by UC or WVU. Without a doubt. -
Little DannyNot sure of who's going to win it, but the Big East bowl games are going to be screwed up because Notre Dame will got the Champs Bowl (reserved for Big East #2 or ND 1 out of 4 years). The Big East #2 will likely go down to the Belk Bowl, Big East #3 to the Pinstripe, so on and so forth.

SportsAndLadyI wouldn't be surprised if one of five teams won the BE..it's just not a good conference with no clear better team.
That being said, UC's in the best position b/c of just the 1 loss..and 2 winnable games to end the season -
SportsAndLadyHow do BE bowl tie ins work?

justincredible
If by one of five you are including Pitt and Louisville I disagree. Rutgers wouldn't surprise me but no way Louisville or Pitt wins it.SportsAndLady;973182 wrote:I wouldn't be surprised if one of five teams won the BE..it's just not a good conference with no clear better team.

I agree they're not very good teams...just saying I wouldn't be surprised if one of them won.justincredible;973188 wrote:If by one of five you are including Pitt and Louisville I disagree. Rutgers wouldn't surprise me but no way Louisville or Pitt wins it. -

BE Champion goes to BCS Bowl Game (BE does not have a tie-in to a specific BCS game but are guaranteed a BCS game)SportsAndLady;973184 wrote:How do BE bowl tie ins work?
BE #2 goes to Champs Sports Bowl vs. ACC #3 (*ND gets this bowl 1 out of 4 years as long as they finish 7-5 or better)
BE #3 goes to Belk Bowl (formerly Meineke Car Care Bowl) v. ACC #5
BE #4 goes to Pinstripe Bowl vs. B12 #7 or at large team if 7 teams not bowl eligible in B12
BE #5 goes to BBVA Compass Bowl (formerly Papa John's.com bowl) v. SEC #9 (*alternatively the game could be at the Liberty Bowl)
BE #6 goes to Beef O'Brady Bowl (formerly St. Petersburg Bowl) vs. C-USA team
If any other Big East teams are bowl eligible than they could be picked up by any other bowls with an at large pick. -

K, thanks...some kid at my work told me the BE scratched bowl tie ins and its now done only based on geography...I knew that couldn't be right lolLittle Danny;973214 wrote:BE Champion goes to BCS Bowl Game (BE does not have a tie-in to a specific BCS game but are guaranteed a BCS game)

Actually we are both right. I believe the tie-ins are scratched after the #2 game. The Pinstripe, BBVA and BOB will get their choice of team. For instance, I would imagine the Pinstripe would take Rutgers or Syracuse if they are #5 or #6 regardless of who is available ahead of them. Rutgers or Syracuse would want this game because the pay-out is comprable to the Belk (2.3 for the Belk and 2.0 for the Pinstripe). They would have little travel so less expenses and they would be able to bring a ton of fans.SportsAndLady;973219 wrote:K, thanks...some kid at my work told me the BE scratched bowl tie ins and its now done only based on geography...I knew that couldn't be right lol -
justincredibleI actually wouldn't be too upset if WVU finished #2 in the BE and went back to the Belk bowl. Went to it a few years ago (when it was still the Meineke Car Care bowl) and it was a lot of fun. Of course, if WVU wins the BE I'll be in Miami for the Jets/Dolphins game and the Orange Bowl. A good time but a strain on my wallet.

WVU might be the only BE team that would be picked out of order in the BCS rotation. It is assumed the BE Champ would go to Orange because they have the last pick of all the BCS bowls. However, WVU has by far the best traveling fan base. I could possibly see the Sugar Bowl picking WVU over some of the at large teams.justincredible;973240 wrote:I actually wouldn't be too upset if WVU finished #2 in the BE and went back to the Belk bowl. Perhaps. I'd be fine with that, too. I've never been to New Orleans.Little Danny;973245 wrote:WVU might be the only BE team that would be picked out of order in the BCS rotation. Looks like we are getting more ads and a monthly fee around these parts.justincredible;973240 wrote:I actually wouldn't be too upset if WVU finished #2 in the BE and went back to the Belk bowl. Little DannyBack to the game:
S&L, is Rutgers going with Chas Dodd or Gary Nova? What would be your preference and why? -

If Houston wins out they are in the BCS. Wouldn't that most likely put them in the Orange Bowl?Little Danny;973245 wrote:WVU might be the only BE team that would be picked out of order in the BCS rotation. I like Nova and think he's the future of the program, but Dodd needs to be playing right now. Earlier in the year when the defense was doing so well, I thought Nova was the answer because Dodd throws too many picks...but now that the defense has come back down to earth, we need offense, so Dodd.
Dodd's like Brett Favre..gunslinger, will throw 3 TDs, but will have 3 INTs
(not saying he's as good as Brett Favre, just comparing their styles) -
Little Danny
Dodd had a big game last year against UC, unfortunately for you guys the Bearcats even had a bigger night. I agree with what you are saying from my limited observations of the Scarlet Knights.SportsAndLady;974801 wrote:Chas Dodd

Obviously as a UC fan my biggest concern is how well Munchie Legeaux is going to play on his first road test. It will be ironic that a game that had a combined 117 points last season could actually be a low scoring affair this year. -
Little Danny
I dunno. I can see the Sugar picking Houston (especially if someone other than WVU wins the Big East). It is a short drive from Houston to New Orleans and there are a lot of transplated folks living in Houston from the Big Easy. I think the Sugar Bowl folks might think they would get a huge turnout for what is basically a home game.dave;974791 wrote:If Houston wins out they are in the BCS. I'm stoked about this game. Can't wait to watch Munchie in action!

Curly JOk, my daughter went to UC and I went to many games in an empty UC stadium where the total attendance was way off what it was. But I will root for Rutgers. I'm just not a UC fan...never have been and never will be.
