  I am really hard on Thomas just like the most of you. Last night Thomas didn't really take any bad shots. Did he rush some early in the shot clock yes but they were open shots. Thomas did make some good passes and got some big rebounds. I'm pretty sure Thomas was perfect from the line as well last night. The one thing Thomas does need to improve is his defense. He will need to fight over the screen and not always go under. But I am sure Thad will take care of that.

  The upside to Thomas' defense troubles, is the fact that it is mental, and not a lack of physical ability. He has a tendecy to stick with the ball handler for too long, and then can't get back to his man. Experience should help solve that problem.

  Only going to be an issue when and if OSU plays someone legit in the post. Which there are not too many great ones out there to be honest. I also think Sully plays better defense then you give him credit for. Young really didn't get much against Sully, because he held his position, and made Young shoot over. Young got many of his points (14) late in game, and when Sully was out. Sully surely isn't going to block shots, but he is so strong, someone in the post isnt' going to just back him down. Personally, I think he is pretty solid defensively. Not great, but not bad either. He knows how to position himself defensively.

  I think we are all hard on Thomas because he is a freak physically and he has so much potential. The next step in his development is obviously mentally being consistent. I mean the guy is Indiana's 3rd all time leading scorer, he can fill it up. I think he played well last night, and if he can be our consistent 3rd option on offense this team goes to another level.

  Agree with this. And anyone watched him play defense last year, he is greatly improved. He had NO clue how to play defense coming out of HS. Now he has a clue. But still a ways to go.

  I agree with this, I think he does the little things well. He just doesn't block shots or come help side often so you don't notice it like you would with an Oden or a Henson.

  The only indication that Buford was cramping, was the fact that he stated he was cramping in the postgame.

  If that is true, I apologize. I listened to 97.1 and heard no mention of cf cramps. Add that to the fact that he returned to the game 30 seconds after leaving and you can see where my opinion came from.

  I don't know for sure about Buford cramping, but about midway through the second half, you could see limp, albeit a very small one, in his step, and his face was definitely grimacing in pain for a little bit there. I don't remember the exact timing on it, but I caught the signs during a Florida possession.

  don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but Craft turned his ankle and was walking gingerly on it as well....prolly be a little sore today, but shit, he's one tough hombre

  It seemed he turned his ankle late in the game when they were pressing him and he was fouled before he crossed half court. (He fell down as a result). He was walking gingerly before get got to the FT line. I think he stepped on the foot of the guy aggressively guarding him.

  Thomas brings on criticism by his mental mistakes. But he needs to score this year and I thought he played well last night.

  ...and some of Dieb's deficiencies like defense and his strength never really improved much over 4 years. his 3 point shooting improved greatly from his freshman year to his senion year as did his ability to drive to the basket, although not as dramatically.

  His on the ball defense didn't improve that greatly, because realistically, he just wasn't athletic enough. His perimeter defense on the other hand greatly improved in his time here, and not having him this year REALLY shows on defense. He was long and could almost always get a hand in someone's face.

  Speaking of Diebler, his 3-pointer against Kentucky to tie it last year would have been sung throughout history by OSU faithful if not for that last bucket by the Wildcats. No one really talks about what a huge, huge shot that was.
