Hail Mary which one is your favorite?

  • Tiger2003
My favorite 2 before tonight were the Colorado vs Michigan and Miami Fl vs Boston College. I think this Michigan St one just out did both of them.

What Hail Mary pass do you believe is the greatest one of all time? I am sure there has to be some more.

Easily Boston College. They beat Miami when Miami was really The U. This game was great, but Flutie won the Heisman on that play alone.

    Good point.

Great play, but that was Johnson's first year and that Miami already lost 3 times that year, including to Maryland and got absolutely curb-stomped by FSU earlier.

I think the Westbrook catch was more memorable.

It's kind of hard to out-do a hail mary where the ball was deflected then caught by a receiver who had to fight his way into the endzone to win the game. It all but kills Wisconsin's National Championship hopes. Cousins won't win the Heisman because of it, and many will always hold the classics over the now, but this one was an ultimate heart breaker for the Badgers. These two teams will likely meet again.

The reason I don't feel this is up there with the Flutie Hail Mary or even the Westbrook is because this game was tied first of all. Had it been dropped, the game goes into ot. Pretty sure in the other 2 games it was do or die with their hail mary's. Second, MSU led almost the entire game. Wisky had to come from behind, so MSU almost blew a 14 point lead. Third, I don't think Wisky was going to have much of a shot at the NC game. They are/were currently ranked 6th. LSU or Bama are all but guaranteed that one of them will be in the title game and most likely Stanford goes unbeaten along with Boise St.

I'm pretty sure you're right, both mentioned games were do or die. Not gonna look it up lol. Well I do agree with your points that the game was tied and the hail mary for the win or loss does kind of top if the game is tied, leave alone that Sconsin had a lot of the momentum at the time and I think they would have gotten Mich St. in OT. But with Oklahoma losing and Bama/LSU matching up, it kind of paved the way for Wisconsin to jump a few teams(had they won that is). Big Ten is the stronger looking conference this year over PAC12 and ACC so I don't know if Clemson or Stanford would have ended up ahead of Wisconsin. I may be a hater but I'm selling OK St. finishing undefeated. That play definitely killed the Badgers' season as they were clearly eying the NC. Sparty, clearly the underdog, beats Wisconsin again and just the way it played out after the throw kind of tops it imo. It's obviously close for me, I just really like how it happened.

I think Gatorade is licking their chops to try to get the WR/former QB versus LB goal-line push (Is "it" in you) in a commercial.

Kordell Stewarts was 70 some yards....i think thats more impressive than the one tonight

I don't like the man or school whatsoever. However, I will give credit where credit is due.

    ^^^

Was that a high school game?

Kidding aside, the attendance for that game was a joke, and it was more of Akron's incompetence than it was Big Ben's pass, at least in the Colorado-Michigan game a Colorado guy had a hand in the deflection.

^^^I agree that the tsun/Colorado game was more exciting, as was the Miami/BC & MSU/Wisky games. I just didn't remember this particular game until Jughead posted it, and I'm sure there are others out there as well.

Maybe it wasn't as significant but LSU against Kentucky is still my favorite.

The premature Gatorade bath made that one special. Also, the receiver actually crossing the goal line with the ball puts it abovelast night.

You're actually the first person I've heard say that Nichol didn't cross the goal line with the ball. I thought it looked pretty clear that the ball did break the plane, so did all the analysts and the replay crew. It was close, but I'm pretty sure they got it right.

I didn't see conclusive proof to overturn the call either way.

I'm not saying you are right or wrong, just that I hadn't heard anyone disagree with it being overturned.

I really thought it was pretty clear cut after he twisted

Except the replays clearly showed the ball crossing the line. So go fuck yourself

Stewart threw that ball 70 yards. That is easily the greatest hail Mary in history. No question. That one last night was kind of lame in that it was in doubt that it was even a TD for a minute while the review took place. Climax killer there.

I thought the play review added even more suspense. We all waited for the decision of the game outcome as a stadium full of crazed Sparty fans sat on pins and needles for the result.
