"Duke and Carolina fans..#staytuned but a game is in the process of being formed now, with all your favorite players from past and present!"

    Two games

Shall we prognosticate the rosters of this shindig?

Two games, one at the Smith Center one at the Dean Dome.

They're playing them both in Chapel Hill? :D

Sounds like a pretty cool deal. I'd definitely watch.

I wish MJ was younger. Although he could still dismantle half the players in that game.
  • swamisez
Sorry, one at Carmichael one at the Dean Dome.

    No mention yet of Cameron.

Hmm. That's weird. I would think there would be one in Durham and one in Chapel Hill.
  • ironman02
McCants would probably want nothing to do with this game. He has a misguided hatred for Roy at the moment.

No Redick for Duke? That would be disappointing. Still would be awesome to see this happen.
  • GOONx19
    ^ JJ is Redick.
  • cview
I understand the rosters were hypothetical, but IMO Ty Lawson, Ed Davis, Antwan Jamison, and Grant Hill would be better choices than some of those listed. I would also think Wayne Ellington and Danny Green would be better suited for this game than McCants.

Derp can't believe I missed that.
  • swamisez
I originally wrote JJ's last name, but as you can see much of it is removed by the filter. Hence the JJ.

    I can. Derp.

I would look for Jay Williams to play. While he may not be healthy enough for the NBA, he's more than capable for a pick up game I'm sure.
  • TBone14
I want to see some of the old timers (by oldtimers I mean the guys from the 80's and early 90's) mixed in. I would love to see Christian Laettner back down James Worthy. Here comes Jordan to double down. Kick out to Ferry for 3..no good. Sam Perkins grabs the rebound. Outlets to Ed Cota who passes ahead to JR Reid who goes up for a dunk and he's fouled by Tommy Amaker.

    I would watch this.
  • dlazz
I wouldn't watch this because fuck Duke.
  • georgemc80
    Ferry wouldn't miss that 3.
  • swamisez
Watched ferry play during duke legends game a few years back. The man can still drain it. Never saw him in college but I know he dropped 52 on Miami
  • reclegend22
^^Ferry poured 58 on the 'Canes on the night of which you speak, an all-time Duke single-game record, on 23-made field goals. I was too young to witness his career in Durham, but saw him play many a game in the NBA, and his outside jumper only became more deadly with time. By the time he was serving as an important role-player for the world champion San Antonio Spurs in the late '90s, Ferry was one of the better three-point specialists in the League. He'd make that three, and he'd do so in Phil Ford's face, while Jeff McInnis played his own alumni game at the Chapel Hill Holiday Inn with Phil's wife. (I'm not actually sure infidelity is all that humorous haha.)

Turns out there will be a game at Cameron, and per Nolan Smith it is Nov. 17th.

Not sure how they are doing tickets?
  • reclegend22
I have no idea how the ticket situation will be handled. I imagine that it will be open to the general public, with tickets split between the universities, and first-come, first-serve at the two ticket offices. I bet tickets won't be bargains, however. If I lived nearer to campus, I'd be there in a beat of the heart.

I wonder who will coach from each bench? I've heard swirling rumors that Coach K and Dean Smith might head each squad, but this seems unlikely. Coach K will have a game with Davidson to prepare for the following night, and I'm not even sure Dean would know which side to root for. I knew that awful when I said it and I am a terrible person. Forgive me.
  • ironman02
I was gonna let the Phil Ford comment slide, but I'm not gonna stand for that one.

    No forgiveness, dookie.
  • swamisez
agree, the phil ford comment was in poor taste. He is a nice gentleman and is very complimentary of both programs when I have heard him speak.

    Its not even March yet.
  • swamisez
No coaches will be involved, they will have player coaches. Stackhouse and Wallace are heading the Carolina team, with Nolan Smith and Jason Williams heading the Duke team.

Kyrie is in, as well as JJ. That is all I know so far.
  • reclegend22
I obviously didn't mean it in a malicious manner, and only said it because I wouldn't mind if someone said it if the scenarios were reversed. But, my apologies. Dean Smith is obviously a fine human being.
