College Basketball Random Chatter

He dreams of being a second rounder apparently

Anyone read the Grantland article on Harrison Barnes? I'm on my phone or I'd link it, but it was a fantastic read on his 2 years at UNC and how top talents view college. Also that he might thought too much of himself early on, but that he already was "branding" his name so never got too much better.

Guess that what happens when you're named a pre-season All American before you've played a minute of college basketball.

I kind of agree, but taking the top 2-3 players each year we would
    Be right a lot.

    2006 Oden/Durant
    2007 Beasley/Gordon/Rose
2008 Mullens (he was about the only 1 to get the preseason pub)
    2009 Wall/Cousins/Favors
2010 Barnes/Irving/Sullinger/Knight (loaded class, and Kanter and Selby were ineligible)
    2011 Davis/MKG/Rivers

Barnes' family is very education oriented. It would not surprise me at all if he comes back. Plus there is always the "not wanting to leave without a ring" thing he has said too.

If this is true that he is coming back, I expect Henson and Marshall to follow suit.
  • karen lotz
I'm guessing Marshall will bee back, he's trying to get Oriahki to transfer to Carolina on twitter.

    Shabazz is down to 3:

    UCLA
    Duke
And a team in the Final Four right now

Sucks, I wanted him to go to UNLV if not Kansas

Rumors circulating that Barnes, Henson, and Marshall gave Roy a surprise visit in his office this afternoon. Message board chatter is that it was to tell him that they were all coming back, but obviously that should be taken with a grain of salt. They probably haven't even had time to discuss things with their family, get info from NBA people, etc.

Also, Kendall is tweeting Alex Oriakhi. There is no room at Carolina for Oriakhi unless someone leaves early.

Not sure how accurate, but I read today that it's a done deal...UCLA. I figured he would end up at UK, and he very well could, but some "sources" are saying he's headed to Westwood.

    I don't want Oriakhi.

    I don't either. I want John Henson.

Even if Henson leaves, I'm not so sure Oriakhi would be a good fit.
  • wildcats20
Henson and James Michael would be a force.
  • wildcats20
I don't want to get my hopes up, so I am done talking about it til an announcement lol
  • SportsAndLady
I thought I saw earlier today that Oriakhi was down to UK or Duke

Duke is out according to what I saw today.

I saw on Twitter that the SEC doesn't accept one-year transfers. Anyone know if there is there any truth to that?

Agreed. At least we don't have to wait as long this time.

yes. Masoli rule. Kept Arik Armstead from playing football at auburn. His brother wanted to transfer for his 5th year and couldn't.

So that rules out Kentucky for Oriakhi then.

I guess the good thing about Kendall's tweet is that he will be back. Doubt he'd be in Oriakhi's ear if he was leaving Chapel Hill. Bad news could be that Henson is gone. Waiting on this stuff to happen is gonna kill me.

Or maybe James Michael has decided to leave................

    Yeah, that could be true.

Apparently Kendall's Dad has posted on IC premium. He knows the decisions, so it looks like they actually HAVE decided already.

All this reading between the lines stuff drives me crazy. Haha

IC staff says Oriakhi is interested in Carolina....

That both his father and Alex informed them of that...
  • wildcats20
    Also.....

Stilman White is leaving for 2 years. I think a lot of people don't know/realize that. Does his scholly still count?
  • karen lotz
Mormon mission? He wouldn't count against the scholarship limit for those two years.
  • wildcats20
    Yeah.

OK, it's still 13 schollies though. Never mind.
