I cringe at the fact that Smith is the starter.

Aside from Fitz's brief showings, Smith has been our best RB.

    He's a great blocker and he's tough.

That's the part that makes me cringe.

    Whats wrong with Smith?

My guess is that Webbie feels either...

    1. He's too small and won't be able to physically handle the strain of being the feature back that Michigan is used to having (aside the last 3 years)

    2. That Smith isn't very good, and it means that the rest of of backs are bad or injured.

    3. Some kind of combo of 1 and 2

If Smith can produce and take some pressure off of Denard's legs, then I'm cool with him having at it.

He's the best we got. He's not a B1G feature back. I don't dislike him. Just can't wait until we get some "real" Michigan backs in the lineup.

Don't be surprised to see more and more of Rawls as the season progresses.

OSU has eight home games every other year when all the non conference teams come to us. Then you have a 50:50 chance that first conference game is at home. Why act surprised when this has happened for OSU?

I was just making an observation, and I wasn't acting...I was genuinely surprised when I found out that they had five home games to open up the season...btw, when was the last time that OSU opened up with five home games?

    2003

It's the 1st time it's happened at Michigan. Like someone else said, every other year, we usually have 4 home games to start the year off.

I would think most of the bigger schools have a bunch of home games to start the year because they like to schedule cream puffs early.

Nebraska did it last in 2008
    Oklahoma in 2004
Wisconsin had their first six at home this year
Michigan State did it in 2010
    Virginia Tech in 2004
    Texas A&M in 2009
    Auburn in 2005
    Illinois this year

I was actually surprised that it didn't happen more often. I think most teams like to play one good team in the preseason, which means they have to do a home and home, but every other year I expected they would have most of the preseason games at home. If that lines up with having the season opener at home then it would be five in a row. It seemed like a lot of the SEC teams play other SEC teams earlier in the season so I couldn't find many of them that opened with five home games.

That's retarded. Also, their 4 OOC Games were against NOBODIES

Four of their last six are on the road, so they make up for that. But I think their preseason games are typically against crap teams.

Michigan wins this one. If the defense comes out and lays an egg expect a shootout. I'm not sold on the defense yet, so i'm picking Michigan 41-27
  • WebFire
I think it will be about a 10 point victory.

Which is why I'm not quite sold on them yet

    Fitz got the start

Smith got some more of my respect with that run.

Couldn't ask for a better start.
