Non-OSU, Non-Michigan Big Ten Thread 2011

gorocks99Figure we have some Indiana, maybe some Northwestern or PSU fans on here (maybe even a Minnesota fan )
Looking forward to seeing the Gophers out at USC this weekend. Forde called the upset in his column...I'm a little less optimistic, but I think Gray will be a total wildcard this year. He has the potential to be big time. So excited for Saturday!
A little Minnesota pump up video...

OneBuckeyeI assume Gray is taking full QB duties this year? I think they will be much more competitive this year, we shall see.
In other news Gunner Keil 5* indiana recruit is the truth. Damn. -

I read that too. It would be awesome, but I'm also not optimistic.gorocks99;877596 wrote:Looking forward to seeing the Gophers out at USC this weekend. Forde called the upset in his column... -

Yeah, Gray is full-time at QB now after being WR the past couple seasons. Listed at 6'4" 240 in the media guide, hopefully he'll be able to throw with some consistency (it's my one big concern about him; don't doubt that he can tote the rock).OneBuckeye;877603 wrote:I assume Gray is taking full QB duties this year? Kiel will be exciting to watch at IU, hopefully they give him time to develop rather than feeding him to the wolves though.
Also, looking forward to seeing what Persa does this year - if he's healthy. I guess we'll find out when they visit BC on Saturday. -
Falcons53Looking for the Nittany Lions to surprise some folks. The Alabama game will be a real test. The defense is healthy this year and deap. If the offense can establish something early, they could upset 'Bama.

He was pretty good when healthy. I picked them to upset BC.gorocks99;877607 wrote:Also, looking forward to seeing what Persa does this year - if he's healthy. I guess we'll find out when they visit BC on Saturday. -

I think that one will be a defensive struggle. I expect Penn State's offense to suck pretty bad. Just don't see any playmakers out there for them.Falcons53;877609 wrote:Looking for the Nittany Lions to surprise some folks. The Alabama game will be a real test. Penn State depth chart. QB situation is shit much like a team we won't mention in this thread, Moye and Redd will have to play huge. -
karen lotzPreseason Heisman favorite Dan Persa may not play this weekend against BC. How will that impact his Heisman chances?
-
gorocks99
He's basically screwed if he doesn't put up massive numbers in almost all games because, despite the oh-so-compelling "Persa Strong" campaign from NU, he's an afterthought. Missing what is Northwestern's premiere non-conference game would be a killer to his chances.karen lotz;877621 wrote:Preseason Heisman favorite Dan Persa may not play this weekend against BC. Yup. He would be proper fucked in his heisman campaign if he misses a game.gorocks99;877624 wrote:He's basically screwed if he doesn't put up massive numbers in almost all games because, despite the oh-so-compelling "Persa Strong" campaign from NU, he's an afterthought. Recovery from his ACL injury has been slower than expected.OneBuckeye;877636 wrote:What happend? -

Which is probably reason enough he won't be in the Heisman race.gorocks99;877637 wrote:Recovery from his ACL injury has been slower than expected. -
WebFireI thought he had an Achilles problem though. Did he have both?
-
gorocks99
Oops, I meant Achilles, not ACL.WebFire;877640 wrote:I thought he had an Achilles problem though. Did he have both? -
WriterbuckeyeI'll be rooting for all the Big Ten schools (except one ) to win their out of conference matchups.
And when TTUN plays the Fighting Irish -- I'll be avidly rooting for a meteor. -

I don't think that's really an upset. Pretty much a toss-up game.FatHobbit;877610 wrote:He was pretty good when healthy. I picked them to upset BC.
Interested to see how Russell Wilson looks for Wisconsin in their beatdown of UNLV on Thursday night. -

Thanks for the info.Hb31187;877727 wrote:They announced today that the first game Bolden and McGloin will split time.
I really dislike McGloin, so I hope Bolden wins out. I'm not sure I've seen a more cocky player than McGloin was before he ever accomplished anything. The meltdown against OSU was classic. -
gorocks99Nice profile piece about MarQueis Gray from the Minneapolis paper: http://www.startribune.com/sports/gophers/128534313.html?page=all&prepage=1

Agreed! And don't forget his meltdown in the bowl game, which was even worse ...se-alum;877876 wrote:Thanks for the info.

gorocks99First Big Ten team kicks off in just about 2.5 hours. Wisconsin should absolutely steamroll UNLV.
