  I don't think Kelly understands what he is getting into at ND. Terrible program and is expected to win National Championships when they barely can win bowl games(unless they are playing a hapless Hawaii). Good luck, ND will go 6-6 next year and reject another bowl bid.

  They play one of the most CAKE schedules in the nation year in and year out. Outside of USC and until recently Michigan, everyone else would get beat handily by any MAC or sun belt school. I think they can hack out 6 wins based on pure luck, but I wouldn't be totally surprised if they only win 1 or 2 games.

  Nick Saban didn't seem to have any trouble with that. I think he's done pretty well for himself after bolting on both LSU and the Dolphins.

  That won't be a problem.
  Most top flight recruits are only looking at 3 years of college before jumping anyways. They want a program that can put them on TV, and in a scheme that will make them "valuable" in the eyes of the NFL. Would you like them all to stay? Certainly. But it's not reality.

  IMO, he handled it exactly how a coach who is leaving normally handles the situation. He never came out to the media and said he was planning on leaving. And why tell your players that you want to leave, only to have a deal fall through and then you have completely lost their trust. Be mad all you want...but face it, UC is not a school that a coach wants to stay at for his entire career.

Maybe he was told not to tell anyone...especially his players...to keep the story from leaking out. Neither you nor I know exactly what was said or when the deal went down. So to say he handled it like a pussy is completely retarded. He didn't want to distract his players last week, and kept his mouth shut this week until things were official.

  Actually he handled it like a classless douche last week also. Going off on reporters rather than just saying "I have interest in the Notre Dame job." Much like Randy Edsall did when he made his interest public. Then I heard (I don't know if its true) that on tonights award show he said he wasn't going to be teh coach at ND.
  
  Kelly will be gone in 4 years so it won't matter anyways and Notre Dame will continue the coaching carousel.

  That's how the things happen in the age of technology. No matter how quiet you try and keep something, it's a simple text message from being known world-wide. Maybe he was trying to keep it under wraps, and wanted to let his players hear it from him first. Maybe they were working out contract details and didn't want it announced until the terms were worked out. Whatever the case may be, we'll never know, nor does it make a difference simply because it's a business.
  
  You want loyalty, go buy a dog. You want a winning program, hire the best coach you can with the $$ you have available. Sad... but it's reality.

  ESPN just reported minutes after Kelly said there was no new news on the situation, UC confirmed he was leaving for ND. That's a classy guy.
  
  I have no problems with coaches leaving for other jobs. That is part of the business. I have a problem with coaches lying and not being honest about their intentions.

  He should have told his players first instead of lying to them at every turn. He even put on his twitter feed this week on tuesday night when in NYC that he wasn't meeting with ND. I guess it would have been different if they were playing Bama in the National Championship game. What would he have told ND "I'm interested but you have to wait until after the game", why couldn't he have done that now. He owes that much to these kids who played their hearts out for him and are as much the reason why he is even getting this opportunity. Go out there and coach this team and then do the deal after the game. UC was told that all they had to do was build him a better facility and he would be glad to stay, that his family loved it and didn't want to leave. They re-worked his contract every year he was here and were going to do it again. There is something wrong with college football when a coach can leave like this but if a player wants to transfer he has to sit out a year.

Cincinnati fans weren't bitching about how Kelly left Central Michigan right after saying he was completely happy and focused on their bowl game. Now you're mad because he's leaving you for greener pastures and the best you can do is, "he should have told someone". Dumb.
