Like Dantonio, and Snyder for the Buckeyes. And all the guys that Pete Caroll loses. I'd imagine the Gators have someone available to step right in. -

We knew this was coming. Only questions now are who he takes with him ? I'm fine with McCarney or Heater for D.C. next year for Meyer. Hope they both stay. Gators are afraid he will take Billy Gonzales and not Addazio. -

If folks who live in Florida and are familiar with Florida recruiting are correct, you would be wrong. They say Strong is the guy with the best relationships to Florida high school coaches, and the lynchpin of their recruiting success in-state.dave wrote: nice choice for louisville, this won't hurt florida.
Now, I don't believe Urban will suddenly become a bad recruiter (he did well everywhere else he's been), but I do think this is going to hurt them. -

I'm actually not sure this is a great fit. Charlie Strong is stepping into a situation that is doomed from the beginning IMO. Honestly, what does Louisville have to offer? They play in a bad conference, they have below average facilities, they are located in a state that produces hardly any talent, they are the 2nd fiddle in their own state and their biggest recruiting hotbed over the years (Cincinnati) is going to be VERY tough to recruit in now with UC really starting to establish themselves.
The only chance Charlie Strong has is one where he is given at least 5 years. With that said, the stadium expansion and recent downfalls financially in the program lead me to believe this won't be the case. He's setting himself up for failure.
My prediction: After 3 years, Strong will have a below .500 record, will have lost at least 2 out of 3 (likely all 3) to Kentucky and won't finish in the top half of the Big East. I'll bet that in 3 years he doesn't win more than 15 games and he will be on the hot seat. Unfortunately for him, his stock won't be anything close to as high as it is right now which makes me wonder why he took this job. -

I think this is a good fit. Strong will do a lot of good for that program. it'll take him some time but he'll return Louisville near the top of the Big East -

He took the job because of $$$$$$. It's a no brainer.
His stock will likely never be higher, so he might as well cash in as best he can. -

Good point. They paid a LOT of money for a guy without any head coaching experience. Like I said though, this program is in a MAJOR hole. They have C-USA level talent right now and are going to be knocking on the cellar door for at least 1-2 more years. Charlie Strong just needs time. If he doesn't get that, then it's a bad move. His 3rd year should be where we really see which direction the program will head, but it won't be easy if he has sky high expectations at that point.

I think this was a fantastic hire for Louisville. Strong has been passed over for a number of years now. His defensive philosophies will be a culture shock to the defensively deficient Big East. Smith and Petrino have shown that it's possible to win in Louisville so I think Strong will have them turned around in no time.
He'll have a good area in Cincinnati to recruit from. He may not get the top guys there but there's so much talent in that area, he'll get some good players. If Kelly goes to ND (and it's strongly looking that way) I don't think he'll have much trouble competing with Cincy for recruits. -
