enigmaaxWhen I clicked the link, I thought for a second I was looking at the SEC predictions. Then I realized there were a couple other teams listed instead of Vanderbilt.

Once again, the B10 getting no love. I can never understand how the #1 B10 team is usually left out of the top 10.
I can see the SEC with 2, maybe even 3 [some years], teams in the top 10, but then you gotta believe it's the #1 from the Big XII, PAC 10[12], and ACC. That right there is AT MOST, six teams. How in the HELL are 4 other teams beating out the #1 B10 team?!?!
I'd go...
#1 Oklahoma
#2 Alabama
#3 LSU
#4 Oregon
#5 Florida State
#6 Stanford
and I'll even be nice for once and throw Boise a freaking bone and say #7 Boise.
After that, there is no reason, and I mean NONE, that Wisconsin, or whoever you want to put as the B10 #1 is NOT listed. In fact, a very strong argument could be make for putting the #1 B10 ahead of Boise and Florida State. -

Apparently the voting population thinks the Big XII Minus II is loaded this year? Oklahoma State and Texas A&M are taking up those spots. -

Paper rankings. Meaningless. Something people outside of circle jerk country(otherwise known as the SEC) don't understand because they lack the "student" in student athlete. -
sleeperAfter looking at the list, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, Miss State, OK State, A&M, Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Penn State are way too high.

Don't know what it means, but found the breakdown of voting coaches by conference interesting:
SEC, Big Ten, ACC, Pac 12, CUSA, MAC - 6
Big XII - 5
Big East, Sun Belt, WAC, MWC - 4
IND - 2 -
believerThe preseason poll is an exercise in stupidity. The polls shouldn't even come out until the 3rd or 4th week. By then there would be a much better feel for the way the season will pan out.
-
SpeedofsandAuburn was ranked 23rd pre season last year. Any team on the list can win it all.
-
MulvaFlorida State, Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Mississippi State are all too high in my opinion.
Texas and probably Georgia should be higher.
Edit: Just looked at Florida State's schedule though. Incredibly easy outside of Oklahoma, so if they beat the Sooners 5 might not be too high. -

But how would we know which games are good ones at the beginning of the year w/o those numbers? (sarcasm) -
Tiger2003Notre Dame is way to high.

This doesn't make any sense. If teams were stuck in their original order, it would be stupid. The fact that teams can jump others as the season progresses leaves more room for evaluating actual results. -

An 8-5 team returns 18 starters, including 8 on the 23rd-best scoring defense, and has four players on all-American lists is "way too high" at 18? Their coach has a proven track record, so there is reason to believe they'd be good.
So when a certain 7-5 team with a second-year coach with a proven record, is ranked 13th in a preseason poll, did you bitch about that?
I can't say they'll have a great season, no one here knows one way or another, but to say they don't deserve the hype is pretty dumb. Especially so when you don't back it up with anything. -

I think he's saying that it was stupid for Auburn to jump both TCU and Boise even though both were undefeated at the time. I agree with him. TCU deserved to be there just as much as anyone else did. -

I just want to know what team you were talking about. I honestly can't figure it out. OSU and Tress? -

I really don't want to go rounds about it, but making the championship is a resume game. It wasn't stupid for Auburn to jump TCU and Boise because Auburn beat more good teams. If you can't accept a team "jumping" another after building a better resume, you're basically saying that whoever the voters think is better at the beginning of the season should be protected regardless of anyone's performance. That...is retarded. -
SportsAndLadyAuburn should not have jumped Boise or tcu? lol stoppppp

Notre Dame will finish the season outside of the Top 25 with a 7-5 record. -
Ty WebbFlorida right about where we should be...maybe a little lower

It's not just Auburn. There were 4 teams that jumped those 2 last year even though they were obviously still winning. There's no reason 1 of them shouldn't have been #1 at some point last year.
