Best College Football player EVER????

  • Tiernan
OJ was one helluva college RB. Of course that was before his "transgressions" as Tiger might say.

Griffin had 1,450 yards his SR year.
Johnson had 1,059 and 25 TD's (OSU season record at time). Most of those TD's were in short yardage where Griffin got them there.
Thats fine, and I am well aware of Pete Johnson, but I still don't think you can give someone the heisman with 4 touchdowns.
So if Suh gets it this year he's undeserving?

No, as touchdowns are irrelveant witha defensive player, his sacks, tackles for a loss are what set him apart. Comparing a dt to a rb, reach much big guy?

Muncie had more yards, better ypc and more touchdowns.

Whether you like it or not, team records do play a role in the decision. Cal was 8-3 and OSU was 11-1 (11-0 in the regular season) in 1975.

What would you say about a guy with 43 TD passes, a passer rating of 154+, 9 picks in 659 attempts this season?

Point is it's all relative. VOTERS choose (wrongly so imo) based on team performance as well as individual stats, who gets the hype and at what time of year.

That and the fact that he had won the previous awards gave him that inherent advantage.

Did Tebow have an "inherent " advantage?

    '07

    '08?

It is what it is, this is a discussion board, no one here has a vote for shit, but its a place to discuss this stuff.

He did, but they got it correct last year. He still recieved more first place votes than any of the other canidates, while in reality he should have been third.

Vince Young is the best that I've gotten to watch in my lifetime.

Archie Griffin is the best player in college football history, followed closely by Troy Smith.

    That is all.
  • stroups
Reggie Bush was my favorite to watch

Bo Jackson and Archie immediately come to mind, but I think Herschel Walker, Tim Tebow and Ricky Williams deserve some consideration as well.

For a career, it's hard to argue with guys like Grange, Walker, Sanders, Griffin, Jackson, Simpson etc.

Vince Young was the most dominant player for a single season that ever played the game.

A guy that gets overlooked all the time, and I try to bring it up on every thread like this, is Mike Singletary. 662 career tackles, 234 in one season. That's UNREAL. Really the only time Baylor has been legit in college football, and he was their best player. Not exactly like he tanked in the NFL either, both as a player or coach.

Haha, all I got? Are you some kind of dipshit? The guy had 4 touchdowns. You buckeye fans are so blinded by the fact that you think Archie Griffin can do no wrong that you're neglecting to look at facts.
I'm not disputing whether or not Archie deserved the second Heisman or not, but he was one hell of a football player. Didn't he rush for something crazy like 34 straight 100 yard games? Unbelieveable stat. There is more to it than just scoring td's.

As an Ohio State fan I can confidently say Charles Woodson. Without him, Michigan doesn't win the Big 10 let alone a share of the national title in 1997. Not too mention he is the only defensive player to ever win the Heisman.

Also: Bo Jackson, Barry Sanders, Herschel Walker, Archie Griffin, Red Grange

    Herschal Walker and Barry Sanders
  • JU-ICE
    Hugh Green, Pitt 1978-80
